Whoops, the inaugural Scoot flight went tech!

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Whoops, the inaugural Scoot flight went tech!

Hahaahahahaahahahaahahahaha. Didn't see that on their Facebook feed!

(BTW, although they are nice when they have tech problems, according to their C.O.C, passengers aren't entitled to much).

Bring on my flight with them in a week + one day.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

How badly tech?

Bad enough:

The "technical fault" saw the Boeing 777-200 aircraft making a U-turn on the runway and returning to the boarding bay at about 12.20am, 40 minutes after it had pulled away from Terminal 2 at Changi Airport. TODAY deputy features editor Christopher Toh, on board the flight, said the passengers reacted calmly to the delay, with Scoot's flight attendants serving milk and Oreo cookies to the 400 travellers on board, many of whom were members of the media

And the reaction from Air Asia Boss:

"Scoot's inaugural flight only scooted 50 meters before having to return to gate. Gone Tech," said Mr Fernandes on Twitter, using the industry term for a technical fault.

By the time the aircraft got to Sydney, I note it had become a "medical emergency" according to the SMH who seem to have a very different take on things:

The incoming flight from Singapore arrived after a one-hour delay due to a medical emergency, with passengers waiting at the check-in gates surrounded by bright yellow balloons and flags, and traditional Singaporean dancers and musicians.

I have created a thread and moved posts as its on topic!

Tony Fernandez is a dodgy source given he's the competition.

For once, I'm (more) inclined to believe the SMH.

Surprised the delay was only "1hr" - if they were 40mins into the flight that's another 40mins (plus) to turn round, offload, refuel, take off etc.

Some rubbery reporting all around it would seem.

The flight never took off and the report is from a news outlet that was onboard, the 1hr delay is the arrival delay, not departure.

400 passengers onboard a 777-200!!! That is not where I want to be sitting.

Surely the quote of 400 passengers is an exaggeration. I thought it was 32 in business and 280 in economy.

I certainly hope it was an exaggeration. But if we read of such inaccurate reporting by a local news agency, we would all be screaming about the poor quality of the news media!

But what is new about news media not accurately giving you correct news?

Of course the parent airline is one that said its A380s did not have the same problem as NBW and didnt need checks..........so the story about a medical delay could in fact have come from an authoritative source.

Most of the articles around the time of launch announced "around 400 seats".

Yeah looks like the 400 is accurate. Emirates fit 350 seats into their 2 class 772s. So thinking about it now it is not that much of a stretch (or should that be a cram) to fit 400 in a 772 especially as Scoot have removed a galley.
