Hi frequent travellers to PVG. I have a strange but important question. My SO is limited to having a 24H TWOV in China. We're arriving into PVG at 6:30pm and departing the next day at 6:00pm. Travel is scheduled for next month. How likely is it that a schedule change would occur T-24h? If a change occurs that close to departure, I don't think its possible for my SO to get a visa for China.

Unlikely that the flight is going to go any earlier. QF would have to notify all pax on board. Many will be flying in from other cities on tight connections. Tough thing to do.

Cheers for that. I'll keep an eye out for any changes but it's good to know that its unlikely to leave earlier.

Surely the clock starts when you go through passport control and get your passport stamped, not when the flight arrives. Likewise, it would stop when you go back through passport control again, not when your departing flight leaves. When you go through passport control is entirely up to you.

For China TWOV it is measured from your scheduled arrival until your scheduled departure.

If your plane lands early, no worries, just head straight to immigration. No need to hand around until you think your 24 hours should start.

On departure it is strictly the scheduled departure time. Not the time you go through immigration. This will be monitored by check-in staff at point of origin - if your departure is more than 24 hours after arrival you will be refused uplift.
