Passengers who had their European River Cruises ruined by weather problems have had compensation amounts announced. This follows on from the High Court case in 2020 ruling that it "was a breach of contract to fail to provide a "pleasurable and relaxing holiday", and that he was eligible to claim compensation for that."
High river water levels had stopped the cruise ships from passing under the various bridges and Scenic resorted to shuttling people around for hours in buses. Other companies had cancelled cruises and refunded payments but Scenic apparently hid the true extent of the problems before the passengers arrived at the cruise departure point. The company also hid from passengers the fact that they would actually refund cruise bookings but only if this was specifically requested
