NM, how did they swap, did you actually get in your hands the power tool combo set and new TV, or did they email to say they will deliver.
Did they swap the products, ie, you had ordered $1500 worth of items and the swap was $699 value at the most?
Just trying to deduce if the scammers were the vendors/sellers of the items.
If so, you lost a value of $801, not so bad if so.

Kogan is in my bad books now, ordered a $29 puffer vest 3.5 weeks ago, free shipping, and the item has not arrived.
No notification of item delivered in my email, but never mind, $29 and I get 14 QFF points.
Not going to make a lost item claim, not worth it.
Edit: can we assume that 50% of delivery drivers in Aust are crooked?

Then the worst ones are now the Aust based Wangiri phones, both from mobiles and landlines, have never answered them, so don't know what the end aim is, if its fake AFP, or fake ATO, or fake Dept of Finance, or the "Finance Monitoring Dept" what ever that one is.
Lots of Aust mobile numbers are calling me now, as if I run a scammer answering business, I don't know who owns, and they come all the time, only thing I can do is to let it ring, then block and delete.
Plus landline calls from Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, even NZ, all where I don't know anyone.
I mentioned many posts back of a switcheroo where I got jeans instead of expensive jacket (from US). Legitimate businesses respond quickly and alarmingly when this occurs and I was wearing newly sent jacket within the week. It was the US based courier starting with f that they hinted was where it took place.

I will make no further comment ... for fear of Mrs. NM coming to a conclusion that may be detrimental to my well-being ;)

Heh.
I really do wish that this world was more scrupulous.
So many crooks around!
In the process of buying something online, there are at least 5 steps to crook(ery)... from the seller to the shipper/courier, to you getting item, or in my case, not getting item.
With us having mobile phones, its also so many types of crook(ery).
With landlines, also so many steps to crook(ery), have you ever taken a look at the CND of your home phone lately?

The CND shows nothing on most of my NBN Landline calls.

Hmm.
Pity your shows nothing.
For the home landline, mine sometimes shows Private Number, but also shows a lot of calls from UK, 0044 44 x onwards, which is London I think, don't know anyone there.
0044 14 is Glasgow, a relo lives there.
Yes, we use NBN here now too.
Someone told me that they don't receive any physical phone calls anymore, when they moved over to NBN, not sure how that works, they say they only use their mobile phones.
Strange that calls from India, ie, with an Indian (country calling code) never shows up.
Only UK, and Europe.
Can't block these, but I do write the numbers down on scrap paper, and then add these to my mobile, for which I do block.
Telstra supposedly charges for CND, but mine is not with them, and it ($5 monthly) never shows up on my home phone co invoice.

Indian calls all seem to have an (02) or (03) prefix, but I know full well that they are not coming from NSW/Vic

Haven't looked at my spam box for 2-3 weeks. So much I have missed out on. annieB and Kersten want me to be a part of a triangle. o_O As well the Russian ladies have found me again. As well as a couple of thai ladies.

I have missed out on being a beneficiary of large amounts of money from Nigeria and Uzbekistan.

Missed out on claiming my prizes from WW,Costco Nescafe and CBD gummies.

My Amazon and PayPal accounts have been shut down again - wonder why they even let me have an account.

Another one, not sure how the scammers can get hold of people's amazon log in email address, unless they are the sellers.
"Your Amazon account has had log in activity in ******" and you live in Sydney, put in a city on the other side of Australia to where you live.
Not sure if Amazon just wants people to change their password regularly, or maybe the ip address of your laptop is out of syncn, ... that it would put you in a city of Australia that you (or the buyer) is not in...
Think I got the sms with Amazon as the sender.
Or the seller who knows your or the buyers email address and phone number doing a winkie, either by on passing buyer data, or trying a winkie themselves.
I have bought off/from Amazon, but after having a sms from Amazon, that a log in had occurred from somewhere in Australia that I didn't live in, ahem, no thanks.
Also that items you or I or the buyer has bought, but item never arrives.
Or you you get a non descript sms that "your package couldn't be delivered" and a tiny url is provided, or a non descript phone number is used to send the sms.
And of course, in the past few days, I did buy from Mitchells, but AusPost said item was coming in the next few days, usually the sender of the sms would read Auspost.
I am now going to buy only from Bunnings, or physically from stores from now on, no more buying online.
Amazon, bad...
Kogan... bad as to the courier side...
Who can we trust, in the online buying side of things, no one it seems.

@AustraliaPoochie - sorry to hear your experiences. With the exception of my jacket switcheroo in earlier posts I have not had any bad experiences. I only started buying online in Covid and something arrives every week. I never buy from Amazon (for different reason) or Kogan (I don’t like the quality of product). I also don’t use ebay or gumtree. Similar to travel I prefer to buy from the actual Australian company (with some exceptions ie my jacket) that makes the product as the brand has staff and a presence. Bit like why I avoid travel aggregator/Airbnb v direct w hotel.
is it foolproof ? Probably not - but good experiences so far…

Dear friend contact my secretary His e-mail <removed>

I'm sorry but happy to inform you about my success in getting those
funds transferred under the co-operation of a new partner from
Paraguay though I tried my best to involve you in the Gold/Diamond
business but God decided the whole situations. Presently am in United
Arab Emirates for investment projects with my own share of the total
sum of the money. Meanwhile, I didn't forget your past efforts and
attempts to assist me in transferring those funds despite that
everything failed us somehow. Now contact my secretary in Burkina
Faso. Mr. Nelson Salah by name: His e-mail <removed>

Ask him to send you the VISA CARD total sum of $2.500, 000.00. USD
which I kept for your compensation for all the past efforts and
attempt to assist me in this matter. I deeply appreciated your efforts
at that time very much. So feel free and keep in touched with my
secretary; Mr. Nelson Salah and instruct him where to send the VISA
CARD value sum of $2.500, 000.00.USD to you. Now this amount is me and
the new partner contribute and offer you this amount $1.500.000.00.
USD. Is from my own share while my new partner supported you also with
sum of $ 1,000000.00 USD. From his own share also because I explain
the whole facts to him that you are the first person I contacted that
wanted to assist me while you could not make it and he said okay
there's no problem.

So you have to keep the whole secret about my success, because I
believe only you know how I made this money so try to keep everything
secret. I hope you understand the reason why this huge amount of funds
was kept for you? Please do let me know immediately you receive the
VISA CARD so that we can share the joy after all the sufferings at
that time; In this moment of time, I'm very busy here because of the
investment projects which myself and the new partner are having at
hand, finally;

Remember that I have already forward the instruction to the secretary
on your behalf to receive that money, so feel free to keep in touch
with him, so that he will send the VISA CARD value sum of
$2.500,000.00. USD. Two Million Five hundred Thousand United State
Dollars to you without any delay.

Best Regards,
Mr. Norman Saleem.

Great! You replied! I am so happy. And we do live close to each other so this is just so perfect. This means we can meet fast and often. I am really excited! I have had problems with my ex stalking me so I am not using Skype or Facebook anymore. And I will delete this mail as well as he has threatened me that he will get it hacked. So I have joined http://lizzie.find-lovers.xx_xx_x There I feel safe and he can't hack that without getting in trouble with the law. I will send you some pictures, then I am sure you will remember me. And then I hope we can meet very fast. I missed you! You missed me? Gem-Stone

Oh no, Aussies getting in on the act!

Hello Dear,

Greetings to you and your family,

I am Mrs. Elizabeth Graham, from Australia, lived in South Africa for 17years and currently residing in London United Kingdom, a widow to late Dr. Barry Graham. I am 69 years old and presently suffering from Leukaemia.

My health condition has gotten worse and just two weeks ago my doctor informed me that my condition has reach a critical stage, and that I have just 3 months left. This confirmation from my doctor was and still is devastating news; it is hard to know that you have just a little time left to live here.

My late husband was a contractor in both South Africa and London, he died in a plane crash and during the period of our marriage we could not bear any child. My late husband was very wealthy and after his
death, I inherited all his businesses and wealth both in South Africa and London-United Kingdom.

After the doctor’s medical pronunciation that I have just few months to live, I decided to divide my wealth to contribute to your country and Africa where my late husband as a contractor made lots of money. I want to assist you with the funds to do great charity works in your country, this is my last wish. I selected you after searching few websites; I prayed and was led to you through my instinct. I am willing to donate the sum of Three Million, Two Hundred thousand United States Dollars (USD$3,200,000.00) to the less privileged through you.

Please I want to transfer this money to you as I am travelling to South Africa soonest to have my lawyer amend my WILL. If you can handle this fund and very sure to do charity works on my behalf then I
will include your name in my WILL when I arrive in South Africa, and from there I will travel to Australia to meet a specialist as I want to be buried alongside my late husband when I passed on. Note that this fund is in the financial institution and upon my instruction; I will file in an application through my family attorney for the transfer of the money into your account for the said purpose.

Lastly, I honestly pray that this money when transferred will be used for the said purpose even though I might be late then. I have come to find out that wealth is vanity and I made a promise to God that my
wealth will be used to support the poor and assist the sick. Do let me know if you will be able to handle this fund and use it for the said purpose so that I will inform my attorney and my bank on my
decision. Reply to me using <removed>

God bless you.

Last 2 are both Africans, 100%.
Its their typical way of writing.
Probably to avert anti spam apps and systems and devices, and also ingrained.
WarrenBuffe->r-<731... heh heh heh.
Edit: reminds me I have to deal with some Wangiri, 2 from Singapore.

It’s the modern day (Internet version) of the gypsies who would board trains in Europe with their disabled child and a manky cardboard sign. The saddest thing was they would use the child in this way
