Hi all,

I recently flew AA F BOS-LAX in F (two class 763) and onto MEL in J. The flights were booked through Amex, and I noticed that the fare bucket for the BOS-LAX flight was "C".

When I had a look at my activity statement today, it showed that I had earned 100SC for the flight, and classified it as a business flight.

I just wanted to check that this was correct, and that I should only have received business SCs despite the fact that I was in first.

I don't know if it helps, but I have my AA boarding pass that shows the CoS as first.

Thanks for your help,

F

If you were booked in C class then your earn is for Business.

FWIW, what was the flight number you were booked on? The actual AA flight number, or a QF codeshare flight number.

... I was booked on the QF codeshare (3010).
There's your answer - Qantas don't sell "First" on their two class AA domestic codeshare 'flights'.

Book on QF in C/D/I/J or book on AA in A/P/F - you'll sit in the same seats but earnings are greater if on the AA flight number.

Just adding my own question if I may:
If I have A class flights on AA flight numbers on an itinerary booked through QF will these be eligible for F status earning?
One of the flights is a 3 class trans-con. QF MMB shows the flights as First/A, neither flights have QF codeshare nos attached to them.
I think they are classed as F from memory of my last booking like this but would like to be sure.

It all relates to how the seat is marketed (i.e. Flight number) for each segment. QF market then QF earning, AA market then AA earning.

Look your booking up on Qf.com or Plug your Qantas booking reference and surname into here:

Amadeus (ITR)

Check the booking class against each segment and compare the flight number with that booking class here:

Interesting, what is the usual price difference between the two (assuming "equivalent" booking classes)? ie highest F with highest J, lowest F with lowest J..

I really do not know.

The QF numbers are generally only available with connecting QF transpacific flights - I find YUP's on AA far more cost effective.
