I'm travelling on BA176 from New York to London in Jan next year. I'm, fortunately, going to be in Business class as part of a round the world ticket. I'm flying Qantas on the way to New York and then from London back home to Sydney. I can figure out the Qantas SCs but don't know how to figure out the BA points.

I'm sure everyone else in here knows how to do it, perhaps one of you could tell me.

All the best

Same as if it were for flying on Qantas. At 3,541 miles or thereabouts, that 100 SC's in business.

Take note that the evening BA JFK-LHR flights do not serve a full meal onboard. Its what they call a "Sleeper Service". They offer a small basic supper and then breakfast before arrival. The idea is to allow maximum time for sleeping.

So, make sure you allow time at the BA lounge in JFK to eat. Go through into the business class lounge and follow around to the left to the "Pre-Flight Dining Room". There you will need to show your BA J boarding pass and can have a very nice buffet dinner, including wine, cheese, desert etc.

Then you you get on board you can sleep during the flight. Its generally only about 5-6 hour flight, so maximum sleep is a good thing.

And make sure you get your BA boarding pass on BA stock - someone on this board had their BA boarding pass printed on QF stock, and it was only after a great deal of fighting that they were allowed into the dining room, despite the fact that their BP clearly showed a BA flight in J class.

Hmm, someone remembers   . Happened twice now. But that is only likely to be the case if you start the journey in LAX (as I did each time) or directly connect from Australia (although its unlikely the BA flight will be open for checkin that early).

Hello guys

sorry to ask yet more dumb / lazy questions - however what would I expext to earn, SC wise, J Class to Hong Kong and back from SYD in/on Cathay Pacific in Mar 06?

Cheers

Go to Great Circle Mapper and look up the distance between SYD and HKG. You will find it reports that distance to be 4581 miles.

Now go to Qantas FF web site and look up the table for SC earning. You will see there that a 4581 mile flight in business class is zone 5 and will earn 120 Status Credits each way. J is J and earns the same for all OneWorld airlines.

NickP, just make sure you don't say that to a Japanese person  ...as it means a part of the male anatomy in Japanese (IIRC, BlacKnox should be able to confirm :?: )

Indeed, NM is most knowledgeable 8) .

You can see what zone a particular flight (by QF) is intl and domestic.
