Hi guys,

I am flying from Austin to Las Vegas on the 7th Nov and can go via DFW or LAX for the same price, which would earn more SC's?

I am going to book a YUP/KUP fare and the traveling time is almost the same.

Thanks,

ejb

To work out SC's easily for a segment you need two pieces of information.

  1. Segment booking class of the carrier (e.g. A, P, F for First class on AA)
  2. The Segment distance.

The first part can be ascertained when booking - it's shown before you commit to purchasing using AA.com.

Take the booking class and look it up on the "Airline Earning Table" (Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions). In this case, cross reference (AA) with the Booking Class.

The distance can be garnered in one of two ways, either by using the Qantas.com points calculator (https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/initialPointsEarned) or (since that only works for defined "Qantas" routes,) the "Great Circle Mapper" (Great Circle Mapper).

Use this distance to determine the "Zone" for the segment. This can be found here: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Status Credits

Read off the SC's under the segment booking class (First, Business, Economy(/Premium Economy) & Discount Economy).

Thanks serfty, I knew there was a distance calculator but could not find it.

That will help now with the other flights.
