SC earning on 2 flights with the same flight number on the same day!

It is possible to earn SCs FF points on the short NAA-MRZ sector even though it is the same flight number as the preceding SYD-NAA flight.

If my understanding is correct - no, as it's the same flight number on the same day. You should get credit for SYD/MRZ (irrespective that it stops in NAA on the way).

However, if it's same flight number but different days, then yes, each flight would credit. But this doesn't sound like what you have explained above.

The NAA-SYD flight is actually NAA-MRZ-SYD and the flight numbers for SYD-NAA and NAA-MRZ are the same. I am doing the same flight in 2 weeks time but I have split it over 2 days.

In that case, yes they would post as two independent sectors

Same flight number, same day but not the same origin and destination and separate boarding passes. It should credit as 2 different sectors for QFF account as there are 2 separate bookings. Should not be a problem for me next week as I will be overnighting in MRZ. Skoogle you will let me know how you get on the week after?

But in January during my Queensland Mining Towns tour I have booked four individual sectors on the milk run, CNS-TSV, TSV-MKY, MKY-ROK and ROK-BNE. Although each sector has the same flight number I have paid $65 for each sector so I expect to earn 40 SCs and 4,000 FF points. I see no reason what so ever why it should credit simply as CNS-BNE.

Another example is CTL-RMA-BNE which can be booked as CTL-BNE for $79 but I booked it as CTL-RMA (K class) for $114 and RMA-BNE (O class) for $69. Same flight number, same day but again separate boarding passes and I expect to be credited with the 2 separate sectors.

All in all it is no different to someone on a DONE4 booking SYD-LHR as SYD-BKK, BKK-LHR all on QF1 on the same flight number.

Got 10SC for each flight, that is: SYDNEY/NARRABRI, NARRABRI/MOREE and MOREE/SYDNEY. Done on a single booking.

It was a fun way to spend the morning.

Great. I had hoped that the SCs would post this way.

I agree. We could organise a SYD-NAA-SYD party flight on a Sunday morning sometime in the future. ;)

Two segments - MEL-SIN & SIN-LHR.

Given different seating it is almost certain.

Well Qantas picked up on this and have combined the 2 flights to one MEL-LHR with the seating the same as MEL-SIN. Interesting that there was no availability for the direct flight when I tried to change my flight from the SYD-SIN sector.

If it's really important to you (and will make some substantial difference) it's worth a call to QF to try and correct the credit for two separate segments.

Its not that important to me. I was more curious as to how it was going to be credited.

That is surprising.

When I spoke to Qantas helpdesk they advised that unless you are booked on the through flight, eg MEL-LHR, you should receive credit for the separate sectors.
