My previous QF J experiences have been in a Skybed I 744 LAX-MEL, and the 333 SYD-HKG overnight.

Now trying the A380 for the first time on a 60,000pts + $300 JASA as WP. What's the best seat? I think I may have snared the last U class seat available on that flight.

Somewhere up the front mini cabin maybe. I've done row 13 a few times - not bad at all.

Row 12 is my favourite. Otherwise anywhere from 17 - 19. Snare a window seat for extra storage but avoid row 20 as the side storage bins don't open. Tbh there really isn't a bad seat so enjoy the flight ;)

I've scored 12E on QF127 in a cpl weeks, first time up in EC and looking forward to it. :)

Not really an issue for QF127 being an afternoon/evening flight.

Take an [-]A[/-] K seat so the sunset doesn't annoy you as much.

(FWIW, I have found it is generally a simple thing for me to access the aisle from the window on these craft, so my middle aisle rule goes by the wayside.)

Uh, I'm confused. Wouldn't the sunside annoy you less if you were on the east side of the aircraft? In which case a K seat would be preferred (given it's heading North)???

Either way, you can close the blinds anyway.....

Definitely in Emerald City. (11-13).
Have done 11 and 12 mostly in A (I like the window) from Mel - LAX and much better than the main cabin. Toilets behind 13 and in front of 15. However "J" is "J", so just enjoy it.;)

Sorry about that, of course you are correct.

One thing though is the blinds can get quite hot themselves when closed with the sunlight shining onto them and they can radiate a surprising amount of heat.

Yes, agree, it's often hot to touch. I find some airlines / aircraft run way too cool and that can be an advantage, others way too hot and you want to be in K.

Selected 12K for now. All of row 11 is available now, and of the rest of 11-13, only 12A and 13JK seem to be taken.

How do I check if the cheap FASA upgrade from JASA trick is available? FlightStats showing A9 P9 availability.

When I do that it just shows my current booking and asks me to select a new date, regardless of what I pick it only shows J availability and no F price.

Hmm, strange. I don't have any unflown ASA in my bookings so I can't check this for you. But that is how I've always done it. There is a thread on here somewhere that discusses this exact issue so hunt around and you will find it.

Hi

Did you have any difficulty stepping out when your seat mate was lying flat ?

I am tossing between 12 A vs 12 E for that reason !

Thanks a lot

Hi legroom,
There is very little difference in the room behind the bulkhead compared to row 12. There is enough room to step out if need be. I like 11 and 12 as much as each other.
There may be a little more room behind row 11. I'm not 100%. Either row is great.

Thanks for the info

I think you misunderstood my question. Sorry

It's between 12A ((window) and 12E (aisle), not between row 11 vs row 12.

One has the window locker but potentially some issue on stepping out while the other has the opposite features.

The perennial debate of window vs aisle !!!!

FWIW, I am picking 12E at the moment.

See my post #6.

I had 12E preallocated on a full QF94 in March.

On Boarding I received the dreaded beep and was given a BP for 13A. (12E was unserviceable apparently and the 12F occupant may have thought they had a shadow :p)

I found that with Skybed Mk II, I had little difficult accessing the aisle even when the seat beside me was in bed mode. The bonus was the side storage.

Of course, for the OP 12A is on the sunset side - so that's another factor. Personally I would be happy to have such choices! :D

Is sunset that much of a factor with the flight getting in at 17:20? I would have thought in August sunset would be around 7ish. I am interested as flying to Hong Kong on 25th August and currently we have 2a and 3a.
