Santiago Supplementary Services

Qantas has published thirteen supplementary services between Sydney and Santiago to cater for additional demand over the holiday period.

The additional services will operate on Fridays, from 21 November 2014 through to 13 February 2015, to supplement the current schedule of three direct return services per week.

Maybe all of these supplementary services mean things are looking up for QFi ;)

Interesting. I would have thought that between them and LAN they had it covered. J occupancy always seems low. When does LAN start with their 787´s on this route?

For those on holidays, a Fri dep is good, as you arrive into SCL to enjoy the full weekend there. Would be good if QF can make this work permanently but where will the spare 747 come from?

Also with Aerolineas Argentinas ceasing there services there must be some additional traffic going to LAN and QF.

There are U and Z awards floating around for these recently filed services.

e.g. As I post one can book a JASA AKL-xSYD-SCL on Dec 26th (6am'ish AKL Departure) for 84K points +++. (Z4 on the turnaround)

(I did flirt with the idea )

My guess is that QF is working their 744 fleet a little bit harder (which also allows them to put on extra MEL-LAX services during the summer holidays).

From 23 June 2014, for travel on/after 30 June 2014, Sydney Connect will be available for South American customers travelling to Asia via Sydney: Qantas offers stopover accommodation in Sydney for South American customers travelling to Asia

What an excellent idea and great to see some initiative from Qantas! I always thought that the Asia-South America route was a missed opportunity for Qantas. I believe that via Australia is the shortest route by flying time between the two continents. Currently most people seem to go via the USA though. I hope the Sydney Connect initiative works for Qantas.
