Yes I know ridiculously open ended query but exps / recos for Marriott properties in SFO - no budget constraints really and first time visitors so the closer in to main touristy hot spots the better please?

I've done the Marriott Fisherman's Wharf and the Westin on Union Square in the past 5 years. The first great location, but very much a tourist joint and i think the service was a bit off-hand because of that. Westin bang smack downtown, also a great location and a bit more business oriented and service a bit sharper.

if you've got a late arrival / early departure, don't be afraid of the hotels at the airport for the one night. There's a Westin, Aloft and Marriott. Haven't stayed in them, but have in several competitors on that waterfront strip and ts pretty nice location.

Edit: You'll like SFO airport - one of the best in the States!
