Not necessarily an error. I've seen plenty of sale fares that are more pricey than the Red e-Deals, Savers and Flex fares.

Not necessarily an error. I've seen plenty of sale fares that are more pricey than the Red e-Deals, Savers and Flex fares.

So its a scam, to induce people to book more expensive fares?

I don't think Harvey Norman is allowed to put a 'SALE!' price tag of $4,000 on a sofa that usually costs $1,000 .

A flexi fare is a different product. There is nothing to prevent HN put a sofa on sale for $4000 and also selling a sofa with built in recliners, drink holders and a drinks fridge for $1000. There is no requirement for the party selling to obtain a fair value for the product.

I take your point, and was going to mention varying T&Cs in my post but opted for brevity :shock: .

But if Flex has the most generous T&Cs for the customer, then its the top-of-the-line fare in the cabin class. Any 'sale' under the 'reasonable person' test should be less costly than the most expensive regular option; unless that's true, its not a 'sale' but a 'mark-up'. This case might be more expensive than the cheapo-give-it-away fare (or sofa), but it should be less than what you would ordinarily pay for even one of the choices, shouldn't it?

(And I agree with you wrt 'fair value' - but in this case we are talking about holding out re a type of price - that's a consumer right issue, not a comment on their nous.)

Or am I reading Ansett's table incorrectly?

Fair points. I think we're reading it the same. The sofa analogy doesn't exactly fit, because a sofa is purchased as a particular sofa - i.e. the Jabiru 3 seater. So yes if a jabiru 3 seater was on sale for 3 times the non sale price of a jabiru 3 seater, that is an issue. I'm just not sure that flexi, saver and red-e-deal are the exact same product, even considering your points (which are fair and valid).

But having read your post, I'm not sure anymore......
