Which site did you book through PGR or GHA? As from what I understand book via PGR = PGR benefits, book via GHA = GHA benefits as a general rule.

Not correct.

If you stay at a PGR hotel, you are supposed to receive PGR benefits; if you stay at a GHA you are supposed to get GHA benefits.

For example, if you stay at a GHA hotel, you do NOT receive points towards a free night.

However, IME you may have to draw the GHA people's attention to your status.

The quote below is from the PGR Contact Us Team email as I inquired about this for an upcoming stay at a QT Hotel I have made via the GHA site.

If you book via your PriorityGUEST Rewards membership account online at participating PGR hotels, http://www.priorityguestrewards.com/participating-hotels/, than you are entitled to receive PriorityGUEST Rewards membership benefits.

If you book via your GHA Discovery memberships account online, than you are entitled to receive GHA Discovery memberships benefits.

It probably only applies when booking PGR Hotels via the GHA site as from what Fifa posted earlier the PGR site redirects you to GHA to book their properties but the reverse does not occur ie GHA redirecting you to PGR to book their hotels.

Ok, fair enough.

I was thinking from the PGR side of things as I have no direct status with GHA. Thus, I always book PGR hotels via the PGR website and, as it is a lot easier to reach/maintain status via PGR, there would seem to be little benefit in booking PGR hotels via GHA (unless you already have Black with GHA).

All good :)

I'm happy to just be learning more about how the program works so we can maximise the benefits available to us & shortcuts to higher status. Besides what gets said in the email may not happen in practice. I will try to remember to report back after my stays at QT in a bit over a month what if any benefits I received.

I'm keen to find out how those that obtain Black with PGR go with booking GHA properties & whether they get the double room upgrade.

We got the double upgrade at the Avani in Livingstone in March. At first they had no idea about the Rydges card and I had to see "guest relations" to confirm my status.

After checking with the Manager, we were moved to their largest suite and offered a complimentary Zambezi river cruise as our "local experience". :)

Both accounts were created within a few weeks of each other this month.

ermmm not sure about that one.

Booking via the PGR account seems to be easier to get status on as it's either stays or nights that qualify, GHA is based solely on the number of nights.

this is my take on it as well, thing thing i dont understand is why put the 'discovery' logo on the PGR card then not status match into the GHA program. Turning up at a GHA hotel with a black card and a plat status in their system is going to cause confusion.

I wonder what will happen to the Art Series Hotels across Australia now that the Deague Family have just sold them to the Mantra Group for $52.5million?

Will be interesting to see if they stay in the PGR family of hotels...

They will leave the PGR group in November.

i would have to wonder why pgr exists once they loose 15% of their Australian hotels. roll it all into discovery and be done with it.

Quite a different range of benefits in the two programs.

Must have just missed you. I really enjoyed it. I think I'm glad I didn't stay as HSW, then I won't notice any differences. I don't stay in many properties that have lounges let alone having access but I can certainly see the attraction for this place. Pretty sure I'll be back but want to do the rounds on some other properties first.
