Ryanair mulls charge for toilets

I think it will encourage people to go for a walk and just relieve themselves at the back of the plane. Or they might step outside for a leak!

At first glance this sounds like the classic Irish joke. But hey the guy might be serious.
Passengers would then have another reason to be at the airport early-so they can get in the toilet queue before boarding!
But as the last paragraph states-maybe this would result in a big decline in the amount of beverages sold onboard and so end up revenue loosing.

I would have said more like a bad irish joke,I mean what will they try and charge for next, charge for pressing the attendant call button?.maybe they could do us all a favour and forget gimmick £2.00 fares and charge a reasonable fare that allows them to make a reasonable profit, and if they can't do that then they can go out of business.
As was said in another thread ,it's just another reason not to ever fly with ryanair.

Ryanair is a low cost carrier and charges for things
It is quite possible to take a Ryanair flight for an extremely low cost; just don't buy any extras
There are reasons why I wouldn't want to fly Ryanair but unbundled pricing if can get a fare in the ridiculously low prices is not one of them

And that is the point I was making,at what point does the "extras" stop?
and at what point does the concept of customer service begin,?Pay for service extends into many areas of life, for example pay for view special events with organisations like Foxtel, and to a certain extent some extra costs maybe justifiable, but when it comes down to it there are some things that a business needs to accept that it has an obligation to provide as a cost of doing business.
Railway stations in London have always charged for using toilets, however I understand that even they have seen the light and are planning on removing the charge in the near future.
Ryanair should dump this idea down the pan.

Ryanair - just another reason why I will never fly them again...

Lower than pond scum....

Mr!

I have feeling O'Leary had diarrhea of a verbal kind when he was chatting to the media that day, or just making a very bad joke. If it's a joke, it's about as tasteless as his comment about what 'services' Ryanair would offer for free in Business if they flew across the Atlantic.

If not, then he really is taking the whole LCC concept to new lows.

Actually, I suspect he's trying to just get media publicity any way he can. Ala a certain bearded one!

Had it been anyone other than O'Leary/Ryanair I would instantly have said he's taking the piss (so to speak). But because it's him/them I'm not so sure.

I don't even think they supply barf bags or seatback pockets as an 'alternative' should they ever introduce this, and pax wish to circumvent the charge. And on reflection, that's probably a good thing!

They would, for other reasons, be very low (ok, bottom) on my list of alternatives, but 'never say never' - they might just fit, in a particular situation.

One can only laugh when reading ridiculous suggestions like this one. I really don't think it deserves discussing and I will certainly be avoiding Ryanair like the plague....

Looks like they've decided to go with the charge...

Budget airline to charge to use the loo | Courier Mail

The Irish airline is planning to make its toilets coin-operated, forcing passengers to fork out STG1 ($1.65) or E1 ($1.44) every time they want to spend a penny in the sky.

"That will enable us to remove two out of three of the toilets amd make way for at least six extra seats."

Had to double check the article to make sure it wasn't recycled news or a very late April Fool's Day joke. They really can't be serious can they?

I remember how I was sick on a 2 hour flight - not ryan air - but never the less I spend most of the flight going back and forward, I would of been charged at least 20E

Well, don't get sick in Ryanair!

"That will enable us to remove two out of three of the toilets amd make way for at least six extra seats."

Surely there is some mandated legal requirements around toilet/passenger ratios. There certainly is when designing offices and such.

They must be serious! How do they get away with these moronic ideas? What if you need to use the toilet urgently and do not have any coins?

There aren't any sick bags on Ryanair, are there? (Don't tell me that they'll charge you for a sick bag)

If there are sick bags, then they are waterproof, right?

That's possibly one way to avoid the charge if you can avoid the indecency accusation that may go with it....

Whilst I think they will bring in pay per poo, I doubt it will stay around for long. Ryanair loves to get free media advertising, and they have already "talked" about charging for toilets, they bring it in for a month, and then reverse the policy. Instantly 2 months of free advertising, 1 month of talking about bringing it in and 1 month of talking about reversing the policy.

The pay machines won't earn a profit, but it won't cost Ryanair anything as I think they will simply earn enough to cover the costs.
