it is reported that passengers will pay up to 10 times the average international mobile phone tariff

Well I wouldn't ! Unless it was a life and death emergency,I guess there will be those who will try it for the novelty value but on a Ryanair flight, whose routes are fairly short haul anyway,I think I could wait till we
landed.
Just my two cents worth.

N'OZ

..and how much will Ryanair charge for seats in the "Phone free seating zone"???:mrgreen:

Bit more information at this article:
Cellphones take flight on Ryanair - Flights: Airfare, flight tracker, delays, miles tracker & airport news - Today in the Sky - USATODAY.com

The service will cost £1.50 to £3 per minute (one pound is currently worth $1.43), 40p per text sent (incoming ones are free) and £1 to £2 for limited e-mails use.

I think the rates are reasonable compared to usual roaming rates ... (Not 10x ! )

(Michael O'Leary said:)
"I have no patience with the Luddite approach that says people don't want to use their mobile phones in-flight ... You don't take a flight to contemplate your life in silence. Our services are not cathedral-like sanctuaries... We will be encouraging our passengers to make as many calls as possible because that will lower our costs and boost our revenues."

Hmmm!

Note it appears to only work for phones connected to several EU mobile companies at this stage.

I can see a boon in the sales of ear plugs and noise cancelling headphones at several European airports in that case,up until now planes have been one of the few places where you don't have to put up with mobile phones ,now their taking that away as well,:(

I didn't need any reasons in the first place but this takes the cake. Will be avoiding Ryanair unless it is a matter of life and death....

i may be moving to the UK and the carriers over there terrify me.

i think we have it great here in comparison with JQ, QF and DJ!!

Will you get a discount if you combine the phone service with the toilet usage :?:

Ryan don't seem much into package deals.

Wouldn't a more appropriate package be the overprices bevarage + toilet package. Or would a toilet charge cause a reduction in beverage purchases?

Next they will introduce a "McRyanair" happy meal, you know sandwich, coke and one free visit to the bathroom.
