(rumour) QFi to withdraw from Perth

Basis for said comment? A319s is pretty random - what do QF group have on order (A320neos isnt it - not due for some years). Unless QFlink pick up some 319s cheap (second hand values of 319s is pretty soft currently).

There is probably some merit in the idea, but A319's?

Perhaps the RedQ A320's? I guess they have to go somewhere. I would have thought that Jetstar could have picked up the rest of QF's international (Hong Kong may be an issue, but that is the only QFi destination they don't fly to from Perth).

Perhaps there are issues with the potential QF partners, who don't want their pax dumped onto Jetstar when they get to Australia. Not that it's an issue anymore, I did hear that SQ were unimpressed by this.

Cobham already operate jets for QFLink, so it's not a real stretch. Will have to wait and see if this rumour has legs or not.

You have got to love rumours.

Will be a sad day if the national carrier stops serving all state capitals. :(
It would appear to be heading down this path but I do not want to start any rumours in the process....

The QF twitter team advised me that the rumors are unwarranted ("don't believe everything you read").

Some medicine a few people here need, a lot of gossip threads started at the moment ;) Fun but very flakey...

QF corporate is in quite mode pending results release, along with it further changes including routes, you won't get confirmation of anything until this happens, unless you talk to a refueller LOL!

I am contemplating booking PER -> SIN using FF points for travel in January. Should I go ahead or investigate other options?

All I can say is that I'm trying to get to Singapore first week in September ex-Perth and a lot of the SQ flights in J are waitlisted! SQ on 4 flights a day now? And some flights are 773 I think.

Sinophile888 the PER-SIN is best in J for value due to the high taxes. Mostly I look at SIN to elsewhere first then hook in the PER-SIN leg to make the stop in SIN suit our plan. It gets down to Saver or Standard and which plane to go on if you are using Singapore Air instead of Qantas.

Pity they can't do a similar shuttle run like the SIN-ADL-SYD with a BKK-ADL-SYD now that they've got rid of the 747 on that particular route. But I guess that would be thinking outside the box: ceasing their direct flights takes less thought process. . . . . . ;)

Pity they can't do a similar shuttle run like the SIN-ADL-SYD with a BKK-ADL-SYD now that they've got rid of the 747 on that particular route. But I guess that would be thinking outside the box: ceasing their direct flights takes less thought process. . . . . . ;)

Feeder flights from BNE, SYD, MEL and ADL to DRW, then pile onto 747s and A380s from there to Asia and beyond! That would require a decent terminal in DRW though.

In light of the pending QF/EK announcement, is anyone 're-concerned' about this rumour?

Not really. Perth passengers will no doubt still want to get to Asia. Cannot see them wanting to go to Dubai and back for that. (though must admit my work travel agent wanted me to go to Colombo via DXB once)

So you think ADL should have the direct flights and not the other way around?

Personally I would choose to connect for more SCs/points but those sort of flights such as SIN-ADL-SYD are useless to me as they are a single flight number so only SCs for SIN-SYD with the added burden of transit in ADL.
