Recieved an upgrade offer from QF today that I’ve not seen before for our flight next month BNE to LAX. We have booked PE with points upgrade requested already. Very specific offer to upgrade to business for 2900 each. No dial or points mix. Is this new or is it regular? Will this affect points upgrades now as we pretty much get USA upgrades consistently.

Yes, confirmed upgrades are a recent change.

Staff travel is available in J to pilots and their families/nominated persons on their list.
Also crew/engineers if paxxing to destination for work.

My pilot nephew has just been promoted to Captain and he can now fly F, as can his Dad - my brother - who paid for all his son's flying lessons !

My parents (LT Gold) got upgraded to business from Melbourne to Hong Kong yesterday (flying Adelaide to Seoul).

Unfortunately the flight from Adelaide was delayed due to an issue with the flight's PA system, so they missed the connection in Melbourne, got put on a later flight and had to spend the night in Hong Kong awaiting a pair of flights the next day rather than a direct flight to Seoul. This morning they were told that the airline couldn't find the booking number on their next flight which caused them to miss that flight, and after a fruitless call to Qantas ended up buying separate tickets for a direct flight with someone else. (I'm sure there's a thread for these sorts of gripes, but I didn't go searching)

Really took the shine off being upgraded.

That and also China holidays will adversely affect availability.
I have put in an upgrade request for an A380 flight which shows J9 C9 D4. Myself is Platinum. Hopefully can get an upgrade.

I think the 6.20am departure might have helped you, although I have seen that flight full when people are doing day runs to Brisbane,

I had a PE to J request denied last year. On QF7. When I got on the plane half the people in PE were Qantas staff. I was told they had to fly a relief crew to DFW to recover a delayed plane and they had filled the premium cabins with staff. Hence no upgrade for me…
