[Rumor from QF CSAs] Qantas to bring back online mASA's?

I am sure there was a 3 month time frame mentioned. I cannot find the reference, but I will keep looking. I have had the end of September in my head as the deadline for mASA bookings since the website change.
That is the date I remember as well.

Book as many as you can between now and then just in case.

IIRC it was mentioned by the OP the day after the change (26/6/13) when he/she intimated that it would be available for another 3 months approx.

I could not find that post but instead located this one by TheInsider who claimed there was no such review (http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/showthread.php?p=849288#post849288).

Once bitten, twice shy

I tend to believe that MASA will be enhanced away given the way it is being handled.

QF WP has it on good authority that QF has no plans to change the MASA. The mods here have a close relationship with QF so I am certain, based on this info, that QF will not be changing anything.

I have 2,400 SCs worth of JASAs booked for my coming year, and can't justify anything beyond that.

I also have significant Star Alliance bookings for the first time in six years. And have discovered that not only is CX cheap out of TPE, it can also be really good value ex DXB.

So if JASAs disappear, the 189,227 points I'll get from them next year will at least help with positioning flights.

I'm about 60:40, but that's probably just a personality flaw on my part. It's the lack of transparency that bothers me more than anything... pity those who don't have access even to the incomplete information we're getting.

The three month timeframe was mentioned by QFF in their media briefing. That time is not up yet but I never expected this to be anything but a sop to letting people think it is all open to review, or a way to let QFF backpedal a little bit and give some ground to appease any vocal minority while keeping the stuff that matters. Its like that line from "Love Actually" when British PM Hugh Grant is talking to US President Billy Bob Thornton, HG asks about something and BBT replies "I'll give you anything you ask for, as long as it's not something I want" or words to that effect!

Well said TonyHancock! I know there is some skepticism over the MASA issue and understandably so because of all the to-and-fro and rumours over these many months.

But QF values the opinion of AFF mods and if QF have told QF WP there will be no changes to MASA, well then we can trust that there will be no changes to MASA.

To me, "there will be no changes" is unfortunately a little different to "There are no plans to remove..."

So I'm quietly optimistic, naturally pessimistic, and not cancelling any of my existing bookings.

... And I will be making a couple of bookings before the end of September. "Just in cases"*

Is that the same as when Red Roo came out and said there won't be any changes?

I posted the link a few posts before yours, given the different work locations of the two posters (airport customer facing vs call centre) from what I can gather, it's entirely possible one may get a memo the other does not.

Sage advice I think, come 26th of Sept or thereabouts we may find out, then again we may not, the whole saga seems to have had a flexible timeline, indicating some changes in the flow of management thinking along the way.

I'm sure QF WP can speak for themselves, but I believe all that was said on that topic following the recent meeting was:

There are no plans to remove the option of Any Seat Awards via the call centre.

(but there may have been another post which I missed).

My reading of that (which QF WP doesn't agree with) is that Qantas could keep MASAs or ASAs via the call centre, but change the actual award to 'enhance' it further.

As QFF are so good at "enhancements" best one they could do is bring ASA's back on line thank you.

I have tried to book a CNS-AKL J mASA twice today. In both cases, they told me that a new system has been rolled out today and they have been unable to book it for me. I have been directed to use the Points + Pay option instead. The first guy I got admitted that he doesn't usually sit on the desk, so I assumed that he didn't know what he was talking about (he kept trying to book me a Classic Award and I kept explaining that I wanted the SCs/points). When I rang back, a lady tried as well and then said, "If it sounds like I don't know I'm doing, it's because they changed the system again today and I really don't know what I'm doing."

Has anyone been able to book a mASA today? Because I have had no success.

I booked one this morning, it was even referred to as a "marginal".

Thanks, markis10. I will try again . I might ask specifically for the Premium Desk, but the previous agents haven't sounded so premium to me.

So it looks like the staff who had not had a lot of training on the mASA system before now have this new system dumped on them with what appears to be no training thus creating even more havoc for those trying to now book mASA.

How much worse can it get Red Roo.

Red Roo also note that you were asked a question about the changes being permaneant and no response as of yet. can we expect a response or will this simpley be ignored!

We haven’t made any changes to the way in which you book Any Seat Awards in classes X, Z, U or P. Members can still call 1300 366 587 (dial in +61 2 8222 2430 from outside Australia) to book. Our Contact Centre team have been advised that there has been no change to this process.
