RTW - when do you get points and status credits?

I have been told that with a OneWorld RTW ticket you do not get points or status credits until the entire itinerary has been completed?

I think this sounds wrong - does anyone know for sure?

No, this does not sound right and is a tad unfair if so. Just remember to keep ALL your boarding passes!

Absolute bollocks :twisted: (to coin a phrase from thadocta)- what were they smoking??? Depending on which FF program you are using, then flights on that carrier will post within 24 hours usually, for the other partner airlines it might take a couple of days to a week.

As d00t said, keep your BP's just in case but I'm sure you'd be checking your account on the way around.

Qantas Sectors

The qantas sectors will appear very quickly.
Often within a few hours of finishing a sector.

American airlines is not too far behind in my experience.

The really scary thing is that I was told this by someone in the Qantas Call Centre!!!! Even I thought they were wrong!

Qantas should test their employees a little more before letting them loose on the public!

Just finished a RTW trip. Most of my QF flights posted within 24 hours. All others (AA, CX, BA, including QF codeshares) posted within about 72 hours of the flight.

Just about to go on a oneworld RTW trip, leaving in mid-June, returning back to SYD by late July. Flying a variety of OW carriers, including QF, CX, IB, BA, AA, and Lan. Will let you know how long it takes to get points and credits posted. At 7 weeks, it's my longest trip in 7 years. Can't wait.

I'm halfway round on a business RTW and had all points credited so far within hours for QF and a day or so for AA.

On my RTW trip last November, the QF points appeared within hours of each sector. The BA and AA points took about a week to appear. The CX points for two sectors never appeared and I had to send BPs to get them credited.

Yes I agree with the experiences detailed herein. The odd AA sector took a few days but QF is there on landing just about.

To go slightly off topic.

Has anyone who flew the last day or so got their Qantas points yet? I flew on Tuesday morning (14/6/05) and I usually see my FF and Status point increment by midday. So far I've seen nothing although my bookings indicate that i have flown the first half od my MLB-SYD-MEL flight.

Just wondering if there is a problem with the QFF system at the mo because I usually expect to see a prompt update.

How many Status Credits?

I generally fly RTW with Star Alliance but I may try OneWorld soon. Does anyone know how many status credits are earned on QF for RTW on OneWorld? I would be travelling SYD-BKK-LHR-SFO-SYD. I'd like to renew Silver or even substantially qualify for Gold

RTWFF, as you said "I'd like to renew Silver ", I have presumed you are Silver now. If not, then simply deduct the Silver bonus mileage...

SYD/BKK - 4,684 base miles plus 1,171 Silver bonus = 5,855 miles & 30 SC's
BKK/LHR - 5,928 base miles plus 1,492 Silver bonus = 7,410 miles & 40 SC's
LHR/SFO - 5,350 base miles plus 1,340 Silver bonus = 6,690 miles & 35 SC's
SFO/SYD - 7,420 base miles plus 1,860 Silver bonus = 9,280 miles & 45 SC's

So all up - 29,235 miles and 150 SC's on that itinerary if already Silver, or 23,382 miles and 150 SC's if Bronze.

(Assumed that the LHR/SFO/SYD are on the QF codeshare flight numbers, or the QF SFO/SYD that only starts March 06)

Personally, I'd look at an AA Platinum Challenge for that Itinerary (I'd assume it's an LONE4 fare) - in that situation, you qualify for Plat status by the time you've reached LHR (4,684 EQM's SYD/BKK + 5,928 BKK/LHR =10,612 EQM's, which is greater than 10K EQM's required for Plat). That BKK/LHR flight will give you 100% bonus mileage and every flight thereafter will be earning at Plat rates (albeit L class mileage is only 50%, but 100% bonus = actual mileage flown is points earned).

Would also depend on what "soon" meant - do it before the end of the year and get Plat status until 28 February 2007; do it in the first half of 2006 and you'll only get it to the same date...

Lounge access, better redemption mileage, - does that interest you...?

As I have Amex and ANZ Visa ticking away earning points I think I'll stick with QF. The company has corporate QF Club membership so I'm not too fussed about getting Gold in yet another programme just so I can get lounge access. Yes, I'm currently Silver and try to get just enough (and no more) Status credits to retain that level every year. It's really only of interest when I travel domestically in Australia; I prefer Star Alliance for overall FF allegiance (1K with UA and Gold with TG)
