RTW Points Allocation Dilemma

Greetings everyone,

I am hoping someone would kindly assist me with some advice on points allocation for a RTW Star Alliance trip, especially which FF Program I should link to the trip?

I am travelling Turkish, Lufthansa, Air Canada and United (in this order) and have been told all are in D Class. I have been told that because the last leg is with United, the ticket will be owned by United (not sure if this is true of the RTW ticketing rules though?).

I am a member of Velocity, KrisFlyer and Airpoints currently, but the only one that has any points stored is on my Velocity account, as the SQ and NZ points have expired. I have not travelled internationally much over the last 4 years, but this is likely to change in the next 12-36 months.

Any suggestions for this newbie?

Depends on the flight numbers

If the AC and UA flight have their AC and UA flight numbers, I'd credit them to VFF.

The LH and TK flights I'd credit to SQ as reasonably easy to top up. If I was accustomed to buying top-up points I might consider crediting to AC

If they all had UA flight numbers I'd credit to SQ or AC as above

(Not much value in LH program (unless your heart is set on redeeming F with them and visiting the FRA lounge). TK had a recent devaluation I believe and difficult to top up. UA used to have some great redemption sweet spots and could buy miles but not as good as it used to be. TG programme offers little now. Aegean is apparently good for *A status but you need to do sectors with them )

Looks like I have TK, AC and UA flight numbers (the LH flight is codeshared with AC as flying from VCE to YYZ via FRA)

I guess best to not give travel agent one FF program, rather get them credited individually after each flight segment is taken?

For Star alliance RTW needing to be ticketed by the last airline I don’t think is necessarily true, although it may be for your particular ticket.

for my recent Star Alliance RTW, it was ticketed, or “plated" as they sometimes say on LH, because they charge the lowest fees for the ticket. Can make a difference of over $1000 or so, depending on which airline you choose to have a ticket on, so ask or challenge your travel agent what can be done with your ticket.

This is correct. You can assign a different frequent flier number for every flight if you choose to. Thanks very much
