RSA MEL F Lounge Qantas Official Response (Refused Drinks)

Based on several recent threads that exceeded 100+ posts, QF seems hell bent on generating negative publicity over the last 6 months. Each time it seems to be loyal customers that suffer. Poor form, and commercially just plain dumb.

If as a woman I am only allowed 1 drink per hour then how the heck am I going to be able to try the Bellini, Moet, and Taittinger next Friday morning for a 10am flight? I know, set the alarm for 4 am!

Thats three drinks, 90 minutes should be fine

Aside from the official response is there any evidence (experience) of this being anything other than an isolated incident due to a overly zealous staff member? Is this policy being routinely enforced?

Isolated? It's happened more than once.

You have got to be kidding. If reinstating Jeremy Clarkson can get 500k + signatures, maybe us AFF's should start a "improve Qantas" petition. I love my national airline, but you seriously have to wonder.....

Yes. The small pours have been going on for a while. IME after the Sofitel take over the service improved for a while then it went down hill

Matches my most recent experiences. And the pinot pours were only just up to the little "bump" in the glass. Definitely less than 100mL. Maybe it's not RSA rules they're enforcing, but LAG?

Sexist much?! I hold my alcohol a lot better than many men and would not (was not) be impressed being told I was limited to one per hour. Pretty sure it's two in the first hour for women too.

I agree it's not sexist but I cannot fathom how it's QF's responsibility to ensure that I can drive a car after being in the F Lounge. In fact I cannot see how it's any licensed premises responsibility to ensure this.
It's mine and mine alone.

Yes I got a pour that size in the MEL F lounge in Dec 2013 so it has been going on for some time. I was on JQ to SIN on a business max fare.

I never said it was, and even mentioned that in my ealier post, was just responding to blackcats comment to do with legal driving, not RSA which I agree are compleatly seperate. but this was the "RSA Guidelines" (which they are not) QF was enforcing that was given by the 3 drinks in 90 minsand then being cut off

But is is assuming all women handle their alcohol the same, and at a lesser ability than men.

Clearly the ladies should be limited to a single shandy. Maybe they can also bring a plate to cut down on catering costs as well.

Not everyday - but I don't think a glass of champagne before the meal, a red with the meal and a glass of the Noble One to conclude proceedings would put many people into a state where they would be a risk to themselves or people around them.

Given that realistically this scenario can only occur if you are on a JQ flight (no other flights short enough for it to be an issue), perhaps this is the logic behind it. However, if so, it would be nice if QF could just be upfront and state it.

Given most of us are smart enough to organise transport at the other end, it really isnt QFs business. RSA is not legal driving BAC. Maybe someone needs to point this out to them.
