The website's wrong again - surprise:rolleyes: . The First Host called me yesterday and offered me the first appointment when the Spa opened at 2000. I took a 2100 booking for a facial.
The last time I was here I had a 2130 appt.
Dang PF. Why choose a spa treatment when you could be in the FLounge drinkin bubbles - 2 glasses only of course!

In my experience people use the words 'rude', 'arrogant' 'condescending' etc, to describe a Customare Care resposnse that didn't give them the answer they wanted.

Hmm... I thought I'd have been around here long enough to avoid such petty comments.

To clarify, a serious complaint was made to customer care and the standard template response was received. This was raised with RedRoo who made the comments that they certainly shared the frustration and "escalated" the matter. The response (from the same person) was aggressive, dismissive and hostile (close enough to abusive? I'd say yes. Sorry if your vocab doesn't agree) advising that "as you've been told, I'm not helping you" and that the didn't appreciate somebody going over their head to the social media team.

I have simply tried to pass on an experience with customer care. I'm sorry if some people feel this offended their "personal friend" RedRoo. I'd have thought that being part of this community for over a decade would have warranted at the very least a mutual respect of my opinion and experiences.

Many would understand if you choose not to, but are you able to post said response?

We also haven't heard if the OP has received a proper reply yet...

Just thought I would share this.

My partner and our daughter and son in law where in the lounge, sat in the dining room on Saturday the 7th March and over a period of approximately an hour and 45 minutes we all consumed 3 drinks each. We asked for an additional drink before departing and were refused.

It was explained that they were not allowed to serve any one more than 3 drinks in 90 minutes due to RSA. Whilst I understand and respect the need for RSA I am somewhat surprised at the interpretation being applied by the staff. Indeed we could have all gone to any bar in the airport and consumed far far more than this with out any objection and not prevented from flying.

None of us were loud unruly or disrespectful, we were however all well mannered and well behaved and certainly not in any way intoxicated or showing signs of being so.

I wrote to red Roo seeking clarification on the Policy re serving of alcohol in the Melbourne First Lounge and the response from the customer care team.

In summary.

It is the policy of Qantas to adhere to RSA regulations where in there is a clause that sets a guideline to ensure that people are not under the influence and are able to drive a car.

The regulations stipulates 2 standard drinks in the first hour and then 1 standard drink per hour there after. This may be altered at the discretion of the staff. However it is Qantas Policy to adhere to RSA guidleines.

Quite frankly I find this rather poor form and using a guide that is not used anywhere else to penny pinch...................

Does this mean that if you have 2 or 3 drinks in the lounge be it domestic or International and then board an aircraft you will be refused alcohol?

So I buy an $18000.00 First Class Air Fare MEL -LHR and can only have 3 Drinks in the lounge in 2 hours. I take it that I will then be refused any alcohol on board too as a result of complying with RSA. Whats Next????

Ummm, after 60 plus pages of this post, I am still not sure what the real concern of the OP is. You wanted to keep on drinking, then go to the Int. Business lounge. Or was it pride that was the issue? Perhaps if you buy a J class fare, and spend the $6000-$8000 you would save on top shelf beverages you could consume without any RSA issues.

But..the issue was drinking convivially with family or friends in the surroundings of the OPs choosing (and entitlements).

If consumption of x grams of etOH alone was the issue I'm sure duty free could have come up with a paper bag and he could have tried swigging in the terminal

I think you have missed the post (among the 60 pages), where the OP said they were on a JQd fare - so buying a J fare wouldn't save them $6,000 to $8,000 .....

Hi with all respect I have bought J class fares and even F over the years and have Been WP1. I note you don't mention your status.

The purpose of the thread was to highlight how people are discriminated against in the lounge based on airlines and routing.

Indeed we could have gone down to the J lounge and drank ridiculous amounts of Alcohol with no RSA being applied however we are not ones to become intoxicated and troublesome on any flight.

At the end of the day Myself as a WP and my partner as a WP were entitled to be in the lounge and on that basis should be entitled to exactly the same treatment as any other WP.

That's the theory, yes. But as soon as you introduce a status system there will inevitably be a tiered level (whether informal or formal) and I'm afraid you were travelling in the Untouchables caste.

I sure that the entire point (not to mention most of the content) of the thread has been missed!!

Nah, they are too busy with really important things like application compatibility with the Apple Watch. The QF IT kids don't visit lounges, so anything to do with them is not a priority, or indeed important in any sense of the word.

They probably aren't even allowed to fly QF. JQ all the way! ;)
