First time doing this and looking at a RTW ticket from SYD/MEL > SIN>LHR and then BCN>JFK>LAX>BNE - want to purchase Prem Y and then use VP to upgrade to J - be interested to see if this is good use of using VP and is it best to do this thru the Plat centre as I really dont know how I can do it online (seems I would need to use VA sharecode operated by SQ, DL and VA)

There are RTW fares advertised on Velocity add being available thru travel agents only. Member Erkpod here travelled on the mini (I.e circle Pacific) version but found it tough to book from memory.
You could ticket the above as individual legs but your routing via SIN means travelling SQ/EY, neither of which offer Y+. I'm unsure if legs on partner airlines cam be upgraded using VA points, others may have better knowledge.
But going off the pts value needed to upgrade VA long haul and taking into account a premium for redemptions on SQ, it's an onerous, tricky and expensive task.

You need to go through a travel agent, as carwashhair says. I looked at doing one this year, but it ended up being easier and cheaper for me to book point to point flights and go the long way with Etihad instead of RTW or even circle pacific.

Only VA offer PY not on SQ/DL
Looking at your proposed routing the only VA operated flight would be LAX BNE
You can only upgrade with Velocity points on VA marketed and operated flights

Thanks all - spoke to plat desk and now I understand how it all works - off to the Travel Agent, but looks like as williamsf1 says, can only use the points LAX BNE and SYD AUH

Booking Y+ RTW fares tend to be ridiculously over-priced, I know from booking QF/OW that their fares are only sold in Y/J/F and so you have to book Y and pay upgrade amounts to Y+ on whichever sectors you require, but from experience quoting this for corporate clients it's often worked out cheaper to book an LH J fare which allows travel in one direction via USA (and often the SC's earnt using BNE-SIN / LAX-BNE in J on QF as part of the LH fare are as much if not more than they'd earn flying Y/Y+ on an entire OW RTW).

Indeed I did have trouble booking the Circle Pacific fare. CP & RTW prices & suggested routings are on the Specials page on VA/VFF. Read the T & C carefully.

I worked out my own routing (SYD - LAX - NRT - SIN - SYD). No one I spoke to at the VFF GCC had any idea & neither did the guy at SQ I spoke to. His idea of a CP fare via VA & SQ was SYD - SIN - NRT - LAX - NRT - SIN - SYD.

Work out your own routing & then contact an RTW specialist TA. I used Best Flights but haven't used them since they became Hello World.
