Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Another question. I've asked the people at Bunnings and others and no one seems to know. If I buy this do I have to buy another Zigbee something to make it all work so I can open the door remotely?

Any other suggestions for a lock that will open with phone app or keypad. Also want that I can allow a code for eg cleaner that will only happen for three hours once a fortnight and one off codes for tradies. I want to be able to open or close it remotely

You don’t need a zigbee controller to use it but Amazon Alexa and other devices can connect and control it through the Zigbee network if you want but you don’t “need” that to open the door etc.

There are many electronic door locks that work with phones or sensor cards etc. GIYF.

You can avoid needing a Zigbee gateway if you buy a lock that uses wifi instead. The downside of wifi over Zigbee or Bluetooth is they're more power hungry. Ie, will need to have the batteries changed/charged more frequently.

I thought this did use wifi. I’m going to have to reread now

I didn't actually look in detail at the specific lock. You mentioned Zigbee so I assumed it was Zigbee only.

Ooh! I did not realise there was an S7 roborock- does it add much over the S6? I have hard floors so wanting a vacuum and mopper in one
I THINK the difference with the S7 is the fact the mop part rises when it detects carpet, and lowers to mop on hard floors. For my kitchen tiles, i have it set to do a standard sweep, then a vigorous mop. The mop vibrates at a rate of around 300x per minute when lowered. Not sure of any other differences with the S6 as I’ve only ever had IRobot’s before.

Sounds like I might be ok with just an s6 then

I wouldn’t use any of them. My preference is for a stick blender - less washing up, particularly for items like soup as you blend it in the pot.

My husband has fallen in love with the airbnb fridge with ice maker.

Whether we gut out and reno or rebuild, he's all about the fridge cavity now 🤣.
Wonderful thing
Our Samsung has been churning out ice and icewater for 13 years now. Brilliant and cannot recommend highly enough!

This one is a Samsung as well so good to know. Airbnb owners also delivered new washing machine yesterday and hubby enjoying playing with all the buttons. Who needs pokie machines with this appliance, lights and bells and buttons and it plays a happy tune when finished.

Samsung's. I think our world is full of Samsung. They make great appliances. One of our early model Samsung washing machine plays that happy tune, but then it doesn't release the door until five minutes later. They seem to have fixed that now so as soon as the tune is played the door can be opened. I wonder who thought the previous concept was a winner. Someone who never hangs out the washing I'd suggest.
