Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Samsung's. I think our world is full of Samsung. They make great appliances. One of our early model Samsung washing machine plays that happy tune, but then it doesn't release the door until five minutes later. They seem to have fixed that now so as soon as the tune is played the door can be opened. I wonder who thought the previous concept was a winner. Someone who never hangs out the washing I'd suggest.
Wow! We have the happy tube washing machine too - bought in 2019 - the door releases as soon as the tune over !

I had to googled how to start the Electrolux clothes dryer. Who'da thought it was smart to make it extra difficult.

I think our old one was about 6 years old. We've had two new ones since then in different homes and the old one was 'donated' to the DIl when she had her first baby. We've had Samsung TV's and fridges as well.

Speaking of washing machines, who prefers top loader from front loader ?

I had always had a top loader because I was always forgetting something. But the Samsungs have all been front loader and offer the ‘add item’ function. I’m hooked. They use less water and are better on clothes. Plus the laundry can look so much better with a flat top bench instead of leaving the gap for the lid.

I've always had top loaders but went with the front loader because they use so much less water (my neighbour across the hall keeps describing me as a greenie because she tells me she's too busy to recycle and she's a school teacher)

The only issue is that they are so much slower than top loaders

Ditto!

I think I prefer the top loader. We've had front loaders at airbnbs and once they are started, you cant open (obviously) and sometimes I throw something in last second as its filling with water.

One place I used a dishwasher tab by accident and not a clothes washing tab and couldnt open/remove so I was on washing machine watch for the entire cycle incase it exploded from bubbles/adverse reaction. 😂

Wasn't it Samsung washing machines that had a tendency to burst into flames?
Their TVs are beyond annoying - cr@ppy interface and wanting to load ads on the Home Screen. And that annoying music at start up and shut down. Picture is good though.

Is that a new thing? My Samsung Qled, about 18 months old, doesn't do that.

My Samsung tv doesnt do that either, i wouldnt buy any other brand of tv their tvs and monitors have the best picture quality.

Im a top loader fan, i love that i can manually select everything not just the preset programs, ive not had any damage to anything. And yes its a samsung and sings to me when done.

I used a friemds miele front loader when house sitting and it creased clothes a lot more, plus i did not enjoy having to get so low to load and empty it, top loadermuch kinder on yourback.

I know LGs front loaders have exploded, a girl i worked with was picking pieces of the machine out of the laundry ceiling!

LG and Panasonic have far better picture quality than Samsung - but that's another discussion for another thread ;)

QLED isn't OLED either etc.

Top loaders just wouldn't work here for the 90% of households in the UK. I'd rather use the space for a tall standing fridge (those who know UK living will get the reference........).

We had a Panasonic tv before the Samsung. Loved it but the company has pulled out of tvs in Au.
We turned off the ‘smart’ functionality and run the tv through Apple TV mostly and that got rid of a lot of the annoying features.

I haven't had any ads with any TV. We operate through a mix of Chromecast, NBN and free to air in Adelaide and fully Chromecast at Broughton. We have this massive aerial at the back, we can't see it as it's tucked into a weird corner but it's well, one of those towering towers, but we don't have the connection for FTA that is needed to attach to the wall socket so we don't use it. Must take a photo of it. We get a blip noise at start up.

LG is a low cost brand (renaming of lucky goldstar who sold cheap applianced in kmart in the 80s).. Each to their own, but having seen how an LG front loader exploded id never buy so much as a toaster from them.

Very few people here use the smart tv menus, most watch via chromecast/googletv or fetch or foxtel or apple tv.

In Australia even in apartment's we dont have the space limitations of europe. Some newer properties are doing the laundry in a kicten or cupboard but id never buy such a property, they tend to also skimp on room size and storage. Having an actual laundry is important as it means you can choose what ever appliances you like. Not only would a front loader double the amount of time it takes to do laundry, it would require renovations to build a reinforced platform to get it to a height where my back would allow me to use it regularly, which would then mean removing sink to fit the dryer side by side instead of wall mouted above the washing machine.

Now moving onto dishwashers / I love my Miele which is super quiet/has the cutlery rack (I find) better than ‘basket-of-woe’ which houses all manner of debris. it has a deep pot draw at base which is wonderful….as I’m moving will be sad to let it go but will be first purchase in new abode (and a new Samsung fridge as leaving this one plumbed in)
