Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

We bought a Miele dryer for work for 5 loads per day 5.5 days per week back in 1988. Replaced it two years ago (so after ~30 years) with a condenser version as renovation meant no longer an exhaust duct to outside.

That 30yo is now at home still working perfectly only doing about 5 loads per week - clunks a bit as one of brushes worn but Miele Technician says to wait till it stops working and replace both brushes at same time. It replaced another 1988-purchased Miele dryer that got hit by a power surge and circuit board and motor died.

My Miele oven has started playing after 4 years. What are my chances pursuing repair/replacement under consumer guarantee rules? 2 years out of warranty.

Bing Lee…but Miele have that agency thing going on.
If there have been ongoing problems you could go back to the seller

Long story short - love using my new Miele products but one kept showing a fault message (although working normally). Bought three months ago

Customer contact centre for Miele totally useless so I reverted to Good Guys policy (where I purchased). They had great guidelines, consumer followup and had a tech out in a day. Hence my q to you. They made it clear that they hold the responsibility for the goods and although I may contact manufacturer not obliged to.
Sounds like you will need to deal w Miele.

Good luck

Miele has its reputation to maintain and at their price point it would be reasonable to expect the product will continue trouble free well beyond their 2-year manufacturer's warranty. The question is how long it is reasonable to expect goods to remain trouble free. The two categories of consumer warranty against failure are referred to as major (serious) and minor. Major is unlikely to be applicable here as the item has apparently been working for about 4 years. Minor failure may entitle you to the right to repair and, depending upon the circumstances (and far less likely), to a replacement or a refund. The answer is to contact them and allege a minor failure has occurred, within the period (that it is reasonable to expect trouble free operation) under Australian Consumer Law, given the quality and price of the product. If you speak to someone keep notes of the conversation. You need to request that they repair the product, without charge, under the statutory warranty. If they decline your request, politely suggest to them that Choice will be interested to hear about the outcome as will the Fair Trading Commission in your State. You can only try.

Agreed with all and still terrible customer service.
I live in regional centre (big one) and agent on phone said she would not make tech call and offered choice to tech to arrange.
They will not escalate a call centre concern, say they cannot make outbound calls when I asked a manager to ring me and just unhelpful
I insisted the agent I spoke with put all my options in writing which I was able to direct to Good Guys
First tech on their list told me to go elsewhere.
I asked GG to send the trail to the Miele manager who deals with them (they sell enormous amt of Miele)

I have been told that Miele in Australia does not come directly under the manufacturer for warranty, instead under the owners of the brand in Australia which is a HK based fund. Not saying it is true, just what I was told.
My experience has been that parts are very expensive and Miele are not keen on selling electronic components to people like me who do their own repairs. I had to argue to buy an electronic control module for my oven, something that should not have failed on a 5y/o oven. When the oven door seal went brittle and fell apart I discovered the eye-watering cost of a new door seal. Not something you can buy from the local appliance parts supplier, only Miele.

Sometimes it's cheaper and quicker to source parts for European appliances from Europe or UK. Plenty of suppliers.

Im losing my house and all my gadgets and have reduced access to a kitchen so what model air fryer would you suggest to make my life easier while building our new house?

Thanks!

Funnily enough this topic came up today on a sourdough discussion site. One of the (US) members enthusiastic about this oven he has been using for a year. A multi-function oven / air-dryer it also has a steam function. Anova Precision™ Oven

I love my Anova oven but I definitely feel like a beta tester for the product. Mine sits on a laminex benchtop which has been significantly discoloured from the heat and steam. It’s also leaked water at times. It has made me want a steam oven when I renovate.
