Hey UBER drivers - just completed DiDi trip to MEL - UBER showing $98.01 from home to MEL - DiDi cost $77.52 - but that is not my point - driver like most others drives for UNER, DiDi and OLA - he tells me since late last year UBER now collecting 33% from mew drivers - is this correct?

DiDi has launched in Brisbane today.
Looking forward to see how it compares Ola & Uber.

You will soon find out how superior it is - have you downloaded the App?
FTR - DiDi comm from drivers 5%, Ola 8%, Uber 25-33% - in MEL drivers will grab DiDi jobs first then Ola then Uber - still Uber commanding majority of market but others are making inroads.

Expect plenty offers from all 3 as DiDi extends it reach.

I’ve used DiDi in Melbourne before, no complaints.

Comparing airport rides in Brisbane (need one tomorrow) I can see DiDi and Ola both the same after applying their discounts yet Uber seem not keen to compete. Maybe they think their name is enough to secure rides but from talking to an Uber driver friend here they are not doing so well, competition must hurt and will hurt even more from today.

I will try Didi now it is in BNE, but it will need to do better than Ola does here for me to bother. Long wait times, no-shows, always underestimating arrival time are pretty standard with Ola. Even though I'm no fan of Uber's business practices, I can always get a car in a reasonable time when I need one, which is more important to me than price.

Bit of a no-brainer this one 👍

Edit: Total cost ended up $63.71 - would have been cheaper cept I was napping and didn’t realise driver went the wrong way - got him back on course ASAP but still cost extra buck or so.

I used Jayride for the first time and was pretty impressed. There were four of us with bags so an Uber was difficult. Booked on the website, emailed a few days prior to the booking by the company asking for some details and the driver arrived about 15 minutes early and waited out the front. Just a standard Hiace van but plenty of room and the driver loaded/unloaded bags. Cost was maybe 15% more than a cab.

Is Didi not a set fare?

Price same like taxi / Uber - based on time and distance covered - and tolls - avoid M1 if you can - he headed that way - hey bucko - turn left and then turn right and follow your nose - we will avoid tolls if poss

That price difference between Didi and Uber/Ola is incredible. Any good referral/promo codes for Didi on top to sweeten the deal?

Here in CBR, I've been comparing Ola with Uber a fair bit recently. Not sure if there are other players.

From my joint to the airport, Ola's price has generally been approx $37 - $47, with Uber perhaps 10% more. The difference between the lower and upper values used to be closer to about $7 and now it's $12+.

However, I receive Ola discount codes by email regularly (and these are pre-loaded in the app) and have never been able to find any Uber codes to use beyond thse for first ride. The Ola discount ranges from 20% to 30%, so they get the business. I was a very happy rider when the $25 flat fare to/from airports promo was on, and my fares ended up less than $30.

From memory, it takes longer to get an Ola but my only gripe is that the Ola fare always ends up being close to the upper end of the quote prior to applying the code. The final fare is usually between $33 - $38.

The last few drivers have asked if I used a discount code, and even more interestingly, a couple of drivers were driving rental cars.

The last time I took a taxi was in November 2017 and the fare was $74 incl card surcharge.

Looking forward to a new player in CBR to keep Ola/Uber pricing sharp.
