Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Perhaps trying to get in ahead of 'Bonza' maybe? Considering City to Regional routes are on record have been considered alongside Bonza's point to point model.

Just ran a quick search on Webjet:
Rex running Business Saver at $299 one way, VA at $345 and QF at $821.
The QF fare premium is quite impressive really.

Only thing which may see VA stay at their current pricing is the fact that Rex are only offering 2 returns a day, whereas Brisbane-Melbourne is scheduled for hourly (give or take) at this point with VA.
Match at similar flight times, charge “normal” fare at other times?

Looks like QF has also dropped to $119 and JQ $65 (limited)...

What a money spinner this latest route will prove to be

Bonza have a much higher chance of success (though a multiple of zero is of course, still zero)

They are using international slots so no surprise. Things will be different in around a year .

$299 in J, slightly tempting, but no lounge in BNE? And two morning (only) departures from BNE the day I looked
Meanwhile VA at the same price has 8 departures all day, a lounge, Velocity points and SCs.

Let me think about that... Um, nup.

Cheers skip

but no lounge in BNE?
Last I heard they were in talks to build one. BNE domestic has got a fair amount of space including the old QF chairmans lounge plus the less ideal location of the virgin overflow lounge.

That would be a sweetener. BTW the CL in BNE has reopened.

Rex does have a 5pm BNE-SYD flight most days.

I agree about all the rest - why fly Rex when VA is the same price and offers more inclusions?

I really can’t see them making too much of a dent in VA but VA will have to probably offer a similar price in the short term.

Surely ZL's biggest problem is that in the major cities, most prospective flyers don't know, or don't consider, it.
