Rewards at 2400 SC in a membership year

Thanks, that's the first thing I did yesterday, but no option to select a reward showed up in my account.

IIRC I got off a flight and a few hours the SC's showed up and it did figure it out (long before the email)

good luck with getting that option come up.

I'd also note the interface is pretty cough, or was bout 9 months ago for me. For example, when I was trying to give Gold status to someone else-who initially gave me the wrong FF# (!) it didn't actually give an error or anything.. just seemed to "work" but the option remained, until I got the details right (or rather, they did) and then it was "Success" - maybe it's easier with the bonus points option.

Anyway hope it shows up soon. I guess you could always phone QFF and ask if they could push if if this is urgent (eg: for points)

best wishes and congrats on 2400SC! :)

Hooray! Finally received the email from QF and the reward options are now available under the "Your Profile" tab.

I've been lucky enough to qualify for Platinum Bonus Reward this year (>2400 eligible status credits)
I'm thinking of giving Gold Membership to a friend ... but how long does it last?
My membership roll-over date is 28 Feb, his is 30 Nov.
Today it is 30 Jan ... If I choose to give my friend Gold membership today when will it expire?
  • One year from today (30 Jan 2019)
  • Until my membership roll-over (28 Feb 2018) ... just under 1 month!
  • Until his membership roll-over (30 Nov 2018)
  • Until my following membership roll-over (28 Feb 2019)
Does anyone have any knowledge in this area? I asked the QFF service centre and the lovely lady said "one year" but couldn't confirm a date. My mate's memership status page (on the Q website) says his Gold membership runs until 28 Feb 2018 (eeeeek)

If it only lasts 1 month then it'll be a colossal fail :-(

I will leave it to the experts to interpret the rules - but think carefully. I suspect that many people who get to this great milestone may end up giving a gold pass without thinking. It is surely a nice thing, but maybe the 50,000 points would actually get them better value with you getting them flights or upgrades? Each situation is different..... but what is the point of gifting gold class to someone who may only fly solo once a year?

I attain P1 each year and one of the much advertised benefits is the ability to gift my wife WP status. (In this case it can only be to partner, not anyone like the 2400 gold benefit in your case). Now forgive me, maybe my reality is different to many marriages, but what is the real benefit in gifting WP to my wife? Her travel is 99.9 % of the time with me as a P1?

As I say, think about what the actual benefit would be to whoever - would they be better off with the gold status, or with you supporting them with 50,000 points?

We're often travelling in company so it gets us another two guest spots in the lounges.
Actually three on one occasion at EK F.

The gifted Gold is aligned with the gifter's membership year. I agree till Feb 2019.

I do see the T^C wording as quoted above, and I can see the November 2019 interpretation, but it has never been that in the case.

I think if it had been the other way around, ie Gifter is November, and giftee is Feb, then sure, it would be November, 2019.

Basically they will get the 12 months of Gold, plus the month extra.

That's what I think anyway.

Maybe a typo in the T&Cs then?
I am thinking so.

Quite a few years ago when I gifted SWMBO SG her "year" changed with the expiry month being realigned with mine.

Since then she earned SG in her own right, but has since soft landed back to bronze. Her membership year is still aligned with mine.

So in my case, according to my calculations – if I gift gold to a family member now, who’s membership year is May 31 – they’ll have gold until May 31, 2020?

Not quite right. Their membership year will align with your membership year.
