Has anyone noticed Velocity have revised the International Lounge Access page - International Lounge Access | Virgin Australia

It previously listed each lounge accessible for their partner airlines - it now links to the airline's website with lounge listing. A bit more effort and hunting to find an eligible lounge!
It also might be more challenging with lounge dragons given Velocity no longer listing specific lounges.

Yes, I agree, it is very confusing now.

Anyway, when you check in, at each port, they will usually tell you what Lounge you can access. That has been my recent experience.

I saw the changes earlier this week. It still provided sufficient information for my purposes; but you need to 'manually' filter between access criteria rather than selecting it.

This change will reduce website maintenance but will increase 'confusion' among those who do not read the T&C carefully.

In particular, Y status access is only to lounges that are directly operated by the VA partner airline. This is clearly stated in the table but some will just not be bothered to read the conditions....

Looks like they have made the change to better highlight 'their' international lounge network vs partner lounges. It's not a bad change as you can quickly locate a lounge based on location but a little harder to find all the different T+C's.

I did get a good chuckle when I saw that the Plaza Premium Lounge is listed for Brisbane international again. No mention of food vouchers for SGs or 'new lounge opening late 2018' any more.

I flew back from Phnom Penh last year in Y with silk air and when I was checking in the agent said “since you’re a gold member we will give you a voucher for the lounge”
I didn’t say anything and off I went into the lounge, it was actually a very nice new lounge. Flight was delayed so I had a nice little win there

Did you show your card at check in?

I don't have trouble finding the answers for Lounge access, but that is because I am like most AFF's - we spend so much time on those web pages that we know our way around very well.

For the uninitiated, I would rather a search engine that asks you to fill in the following questions and then displays a resolute YES or NO to specific Lounge access, as well as number of accompanied guests ie;
  • What is your FF Airline affiliation
  • What is your current FF Status
  • Name of Departure City
  • Domestic or International Terminal
  • Flight Number if available
I am sure there are better questions than this, but you get the gist.

New VA lounge is opening in July

I'd heard May? Has it been delayed further? (edit:just saw the ausbt article)

Got a flight tomorrow from BNE International and was hoping to use it by now, also got one mid July but won't hold my breath any more.

Yep I showed my card to make sure my number was on the booking

Just shows the difference in Silk Air ports.

Hanoi last year refused to acknowledge that Virgin Australia was even a Silk Air partner and suggest that my Virgin Platinum card is not excepted on Silk Air as they're not in the Star Alliance.

It’s like lucky dip.
I wasn’t even expecting the lounge entry pass but I certainly didn’t say anything :p

Yeah, I have no idea how it works either. We have been refused in Hanoi aswell but Silk Air were excellent in Danang the only time we have flown out of there

It's a terrible system now. Most airlines don't mention VA at all (and why should they!). In fact, I'm flying through AUH on the way to Europe this time (instead of my usual SQ) and I can't even use it for something as simple as to tell what lounge a WP (i.e. is first class still available) has access to in AUH from the new arrangements. VA make it very hard to love them sometimes

I would suggest you put in a complaint to VA. It would not be difficult to add an extra row discerning the specific lounges available between WP/F and SG/J at AUH on EY.

Makes some sense to me but also confuses me as a Platinum.

SQ has always had no access in central Europe for me.

I am flying Etihad to Europe in 7 weeks.

Not quite sure where I will have access?

Depart or Arrive?

Which port should I use in Europe? Would prefer BRU instead of FRA or CDG this time.

If anyone can help me out from recent experience that would be great.

In theory if you want access you need to fly out of London Heathrow.

At most Singapore Airlines ports use Star alliance lounges however some don't and check in agents give star Gold and business class a voucher at check in. Technically Virgin Gold/Platinum aren't meant to receive this voucher however they occasional are handed it by mistake.

No way to guarantee this will happen though.
