Remember Telstra Telecards?

Wow, i still use mine. Haven't received anything from Telstra about it??
Removed from active sale years ago (2009 maybe) I believe letters went out around then, and more went out about 12 months ago (usually attached to bills). If you like, private message me and i'll confirm tomorrow whether or not they are now entirely defunct - but i have a feeling they are.

In the days before mobiles, knew my number by heart. Very handy for telstra pay phones with blocked coinslots.

Same here! My whole family had them.

I think they were once linked with QFF. That was some years ago now. Could get points on spend.

I got a final 250 points from a telecard in the last 12 months. ANZ Qantas Telstra Visa card came with a telecard attached.

Most memorable use was to call for help from the outhouse occupied by a couple of roo shooters after being washed away in a flash flood.

We used it on the weekend. Always a good clear line but now it's over.
We are on Skype and Giffgaf out of London now.

My telecard a/c came as part of the 90's "Qantas Telstra ANZ" Visa ...

Haven't used it in years.

Must admit I still was using it on some o/s trips this year when I did not have internet access, did not want to get ripped off with mobile roaming charges or pay exorbitant hotel phone charges.

Telecard was as always a clear quality line and I for one will miss it.

Yes, I had one of those two, and used it a little for a few years then its effectiveness dropped off. But I do have an Optus Calling Card I use for work quite a lot when travelling and do not have suitable internet access to use my IP Softphone for making calls back to Australia.

They sent me a letter about three months ago, saying the service would cease from 2 September. Boo. I actually used it every time I was overseas (much cheaper than using mobile).

Loved this card and served me well over the years. I have never used Skype from my ipad so will now have to try that out.

I remember in 1999 being curled up in a phone booth at a hostel in Montreal using a prepaid calling card. With a $10 card, I found myself struggling to use the umpteen minutes calling my then girlfriend back in Aus (now Mrs Here2go), especially with the timezone difference. Value for money was phenomenal, but you still couldn't beat the convenience of the Telecard, although it was certainly not cheap.

The calling cards are slowly dieing.

There is some good pre paid deals for calling overseas.
