Horses for course. Some find tapentadol better some find tramadol better. But overall we are seeing less SE with tapentadol

Pharmacologically Tapentadol better because it is direct acting unlike tramadol which is an inactive prodrug - it has to be metabolised into the active drug. As people have different abilities to metabolise tramadol into active ingredient, the inter individual variability in effect is greater in tramadol

Also tapentadol much safer in people with SSRI as it has minimal serotonin effects compared with tramadol.

But yes there are people who say they get SE with tapentadol but none with tramadol.

Tomorrow heading up to "St Elsewhere" to get right cataract done, so will either be off AFF for a bit or writing stupid stuff 👀

A cataract operation is routine and side effects are minimal. I can't see why you think you won't be able to tap away on your computer or mobile device.

I had both eyes done a week or two apart last year. Awesome change!

Just think of Tapentadol as a better version of Tramadol.
I experimented with 2 x Panadol Osteo, Mobic and 100mg Tramadol before golf a few times while I was in Thailand and seemed to be much better than the times without.

Hopefully that does the trick as it gets harder getting Panadeine Forte here in Australia.

I walked out of apartment this morning without glasses as everything was crystal clear. Then I realised I'd forgotten glasses and asked daughter to go and get them.

Why do I have a fear of cataract surgery?

I was apprehensive about my cataract surgery as I only have sight in one eye.
I delayed it for many, many, many months until it impacted whether I felt comfortable and safe driving @JohnK
(I also worked in the industry so I rationally understood risks and outcomes- but sometimes that doesn't help!)

A good surgeon and his team were key to me taking the leap this week, and very glad I did.
I will still need glasses but that doesn't bother me.

Back to the neurologist today. Has anyone done an occupational driving assessment and can share detail off-thread? MrsP has to do one. Started on Aricept 5mg today, 10mg in 2 months time. Hoping for a change in symptoms.

@Quickstatus , who asked about the program our doc uses to type talk. It is Dragon. He speaks at the screen and the referral / report etc appears in letter format.

Who knows, but get it done. My Mum had hers done a while ago (same ophthalmologist who operated on my now Teen as a 13mth old) and strongly encourages anyone to just get them done.

A dog park friend was reluctant, and then turned into a proselytiser after his first cataract surgery. He couldn't believe how vibrant and clear everything was!

It would be Dragon Medical One . There is another one called Amplify. But I think these still have an error rate.
Most still prefer human medical transcriptionists.
Only mentioned it because you were interested to know.
It appears to work flawlessly as he directly prints off referrals and such to hand to us.

I'm only early stages of cataracts.

I was reading that cataract surgery was 98%-99% successful. With my luck I'm thinking what happens to the 1%-2% that are not successful.

If it ain't broke don't fix it?....

Called up the OT driving people. They want $1500 for the assessment and say it will be at least annually! Everyone has their hands in our pockets. The neuropsychology consult was $1960 with no medicare rebate. The neurologist costs a bucket too. Says come back in 5 months and in the same breath says there is no cure.
She scored a few wronguns on the mini mental state examination with questions like what is the date today? I couldn't readily answer that one myself because I have no reason the check dates.
MrsP going to think about it but likely will hand in her license.
