A very basic question (sorry but I couldn't see an existing thread to synch this with): I'm flying QF1 mid November, PE, Silver. So am plannng on rejoining QC through AFF to be effected for this trip, but seem to remember in the past Qantas has been slow off the mark with putting a membership through. Don't have any flights scheduled before this flight to London - how much lead time should I allow to make sure there are no glitches?

I rejoined at the end of August and it took the full three weeks (they say up to 3 weeks to receive pack in rejoining email) to receive my new pack with new membership card. You should probably just organise it now so it's all ready to go for your flight in November! You can pay for express post but AusPost has been v slow lately!

I'd have a lead time of 4 weeks. That will ensure your cards arrive in time.

I think that your card is supposed to arrive within 2-3 weeks. But you can get it delivered within one week by paying an extra $30 for express delivery.

I'd probably start the process at the beginning of October. If you join any time in October, the membership will be valid until the end of October 2017. (In other words, you get the remainder of the first month for free, so you might as well join early in the month.) Alternatively, you could put in the application on 1 November and pay for express postage. It'll cost you another $30 but you'll get an extra month out of the Qantas Club membership.

One other thing - you mention that you're re-joining the Qantas Club. How long since your previous membership expired? You can get it back-dated if it's only been a few months, in which case you won't have to pay the joining fee again.

Thanx everyone for responding, including for the tips on end of month. Didn't know that and will get onto this today. Too late for the rejoining benefit unfortunately Mattg, it lapsed in 2012. Pity! But it will be good to have access again - when the lounge is needed it really is, and the Sydney International lounge is always a nice leader to the longhaul.
