Reissue of DONE4

I had QF issue a DONE3 for me once. There were no QF sectors at all on the ticket, but CX, AA and BA. And even tough purchased in Australia for departure commencing in Malaysia, I was charged the Malaysia rate since there is no published DONE3 fare ex-Australia.

To make it easier, could I have Qantas (or AA) in Australia issue a DONE3 ex-Japan, commence travel (but not leave Asia), and then have AA in Australia reissue it as a DONE4?

On reissue would the (revised) fare still be applied as ex-Japan?

Edit: Actually, I just realised this probably wouldn't work as the country of (original) issue is technically Australia

You would end up paying the DONE4 fare ex-Australia I would expect. The fare rules are not clear about how this would be treated, except to state that the difference in fare will be collected.
