Many don't stay in hotels, apartments or self serviced units are popular.
I've never been able to get a single night stay when Parliament was sitting. I assumed that was because of occupancy.

A typo on my part - many MPs don't stay in hotels. The staffers and lobbyists is a different matter.
Given their travel allowance is paid when they stay in a property they own why would they (MPs)?

It’s probably changed a bit now but there are some generous allowances in the public service, during my ATC training in the Melbourne CBD at Henry house I got an excess travel time allowance which was generous given I lived and worked at Tullamarine previously. Was then posted to Sydney and got a travel allowance until I checked out successfully from the final training.

I stayed at Crowne Plaza Melbourne a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the newly renovated place. Given the current IC will become Regent in 2030, I would expect CP to go through another round of renovation to match IC's standards?

A bit disappointed to see no mention of IC Adelaide cuz that place really needs some touch-up.

They will probably sell the IC Adelaide to Accor and it will become a Sofitel!

I stayed at the Adelaide Sofitel during new year and it was great, except for the indoor pool, a bit small with no view. I don't think Accor will have a 2nd Sofitel in Adelaide or want to close the current one considering how new it is.

But IC Adelaide building has that grand hotel vibe, it could be a nice home for Park Hyatt if renovated properly considering its location and view.

Sorry, forgot about the Adelaide Sofitel.

Back to the future given it was a Hyatt Regency

Accor are managers not owners, the IC Adelaide is owned by Thai based TCC

Do you mean IHG?

I quoted the wrong post, fixed now. IHG don’t own it (last time I checked they owned 5 hotels in the world. Both Accor and IHG deal in management rights so no selling/buying of properties

Thanks. I had a look on-line and coukdnt get definitive information on ownership. I saw the Pro-invest were involved with Indigo, Voco and HIE.

BTW IC Adelaide under went a refurb in 2021-23. Not the I noticed!

I mentioned their ownership upthread, a Thai company in the case of the Adelaide IC. The refurb was in the lifts and moving the lounge from its atrium placement at the top of the building. Previously as an RA I enjoyed the use of one of their penthouse suites on the top floor, only complaint was the long walk to the free minibar.

Well they did in a way ... They now have shiny new lifts and apparently the pool (which I never use) also got refurbished

I don't think a proper refurbishment of rooms ever happened. But IC Sydney took advantage of the pandemic and managed to redo all their rooms ...
