Hi all,
Does anyone know what the penalty for the refusal to fill in/Or sign the IPC card on arrival back to Australia by an Australian citizen.
Where can the penalty's list be found online, and can said passenger be held in detention and refused entry into their own country.
Don't ask why. Just looking for answers.

That information seems rather difficult to find. Maybe a lawyer knows! Given they are doing without it eventually, maybe there is none.

This is AFF, how can we not! ;)

I guess they will detain you until the standoff is over.

Passengers arriving in Australia are required under Australian law to identify themselves and provide certain information through the completion of a passenger card.....Passengers are required to sign and date the IPC....
Ref: Passenger card

I guess there would be an extensive secondary and then a standoff to see who blinks first, they either get sick of you and let you go or they call the Federal Police to bore you for a few hours and then will let you go.

Yes one wonders why that is, The information should be as easy as finding a recipe on how to bake a sponge cake. Which suggests to me that its more policy than Law, if anyone can share me the link to legislation that covers that IPC requirement.

All the sites say “may be a penalty” but nothing defined. They could do a search legally and if they don’t find any contraband then they’d have to let you in being an Australian citizen.

Yep Thats what I thought.

However, they could always place you in quarantine for an extended period if you won't tell them where you have travelled.

There is no suggestion to not telling them where one has been.

There is always some truth in what some say is BS, evidence of that all around us from the food we eat to the weed killer that your using is so safe you can drink it. Repeat the lie often enough and it becomes the truth. Back to the IPC, Question. What is the penalty?

Can you suppy the link to that please

Ohh thats for Migration I'm not migrating I'm a born citizen of Australia, so does not apply to me.

The thing is you will have marked yourself as being a defined trouble maker and you can likely expect a full search every tine you return to Australia. Form completed or not. I can imagine red lights flashing as soon as you slide in your passport

Oh I do hope they are filming Border Control when this unidentified person attempts to enter Australia.:D

I dont mind being searched and have no worries about red lights
The Migration Act applies to all people entering Australia, citizen or not.

The Migration Act 1958 is an act of the Parliament of Australia. Its long title is "An Actrelating to the entry into, and presence in, Australia of aliens, and the departure or deportation from Australia of aliens and certain other persons."

I am not an Alien
