Refundability of Qantas Domestic Business Fares

I did notice the fees were refunded on a cancelled rewards tic. Something small for the 6,000 points burnt ….IMG_1496.jpeg

Just revisiting this as need to book a business domestic flight for Mrs SS. Are these still fully refundable?

To the statement 'if you cancel for a refund' in the table there is a green tick but also an asterisk;

*No fees apply where you are entitled to a refund or alternative flight under the Australian Consumer Law, equivalent local law or Conditions of Carriage.

That sounds like an each way bet to me. Can anyone clarify?

Booked plenty and have cancelled plenty, they’re fully refundable

I’ve got a Westpac Black CC. To be eligible for the complimentary lounge passes you now need to purchase a Qantas flight. Could I buy a business fare, get the passes, then cancel the flight? Would they remove the passes?

Theoretically yes - but that seems pretty pointless...

I did look into this quite recently - wasn't aware that the business was fully refundable. My understanding was there was a ~$50 fee to process a full refund.

I instead was looking at the 'Cancel for any reason' policy to make use of some otherwise pointless lounge vouchers - main caveat being you need to plan for it 30 days out..

They are including the cheap J $299 sale fares as I’ve had to cancel one of them

How is it pointless when you get two free lounge passes? I already have a QF booked which I paid for with a previous credit card, so I'd want to use the lounge passes for that flight.

What do you mean by plan it 30 days out? My plan is to book a business ticket for a few months time. Within 14 days of meeting the criteria, the lounge passes are issued. Once issued, I'll cancel the flight.

If you use the 'Cancel for any reason' on any ticket rather than booking J.

To be eligible for fee-free cancellation, you must meet all of the following criteria:
  • you're a Qantas Frequent Flyer with your Frequent Flyer number added to the booking,
  • you booked directly with us at qantas.com, the Qantas App or through our Contact Centre,
  • you made your booking less than 24 hours ago,
  • the first flight booked departs in 30 days or more,
  • the first flight originates from an Australian city, and
  • the booking has been paid in full and the ticket has been issued.

Yes, but I'd rather have the passes in my account prior to cancelling. If I cancel within 24 hours it is likely they won't load the passes as they'll see the transaction was cancelled
