Reduced points earn rates in 2026

I’ve noticed my first few stays booked in 2026 seem to have a significant reduction in points earn, curious if I’m mistaken or is this just the status quo now. For example, a $95 (+2k points) stay at Movenpick Melbourne has only credited 51 status points and 90 reward points. As a Platinum member it should earn at a rate of 44 reward/25 status points per €10. So on a roughly €50 spend I’d expect 220 reward and 125 status points, or thereabouts. Am I missing something here?

You don’t earn points on taxes etc, if you had a $95 stay after a 2k points payment a lot of that would be taxes, maybe 40 euro for earn so it’s still under what I would expect

Is $95 + 2k points definitely the correct amount for the stay?

That'd would mean the cash value for the booking was $165 which seems too cheap for Movenpick Melbourne, even on a RHR.

Yes, definitely the correct rate and good value :)

Well, in that case, get a copy of the folio from Movenpick via email ([email protected]) and then speak to ALL support.

Based on today's AUDEUR rate, you'd get either 242 ALL / 137 status points OR..

Worst case you should get 204 ALL / 116 status points if they are taking the $15 GST component out of the cash payment

Also, call them using phone number +61 2 8023 8523 which is apparently an ALL Diamond/Platinum number. It's still offshore, but I've slightly better experiences and less wait time using that number.

To my understanding (not that I have read a relevant T&Cs provision), partial cash payment is applied to tax and fees payment (which earn no status and reward points) first. So the cash payment portion earning you those points is rough $75 ($15 tax and fees inferred), so that’s about right?!
