Applying for a charge now won’t get you the doubling of points.
It was only for existing holders prior.

Yes. When I rang them they said every platinum after the Deval annoucement date would get till 30 June on old earnings

Probably needs to be in writing though. Did they say that any of this will be sent out?

Thanks for the info. Can you pls elaborate? Do they keep the redemption rate at 1 for 1 till 30 June or the 3,2,1 earn rate instead? If the latter, no benefits at all coz redemption rate would still drop by half

I did talk to an agent about that and he told me that it would only be points actually earned on my platinum charge that would get the extended change date, even though all my cards are linked.
He said that the system would work out where the points were earned from which card and split out the programs from April 15.
I am skeptical but can I really take the risk by not transfering before 15 April?

The killer for me will be the halving of the transfer rate to airlines, which is where my MR points go.

Yeah I was told the same exact thing so didn't bother linking as I wasn't going to take the risk not transferring out

WTF - how can they split out the programs when it’s all linked under accent premium already? I highly doubt their system is that smart enough to figure it out

My thoughts as well, but I did suffer heart palpitations reading the previous posts. I am considering some transfers pre April 15, for trips I consider probable during the next 3 years, but the rest I want to leave sit.

Did u also get your card after nov?

Amex to SPG was 2:1 (equivalent to 2:3 Marriott). Amex to Marriott is now 3:2.

60k Amex would previously get you 90k Marriott; it now gets you 40k - an even bigger devaluation than the 50% devaluation on the flight rewards.

Marriott > KF is 3:1, or with 5k bonus 60k > 25k.

So... 90k Amex that could get you 90k KF direct would get you 60k Marriott or 25k KF, even with the bonus. Even after the Amex devaluation in April this would be a disasterous way to funnel your points.

If you're after a final place to put decently valued hotel points after getting a Plat Charge one-off doubling, I'd look at Marriott though as it's temporarily nearly back to SPG redemption levels.

Can you clarify this; how much destruction? It used to be 40K->20K->25K (or 31.1K with promotion).

Or even better you could do a travel package before which was 180k>90K SPG>270K Marriott>120K AA (150K with promo) Plus you get a 7 night accom certificate.

Now it would be 90K Amex>60k Marriott/SPG> 25k AA

I don’t really believe they can either but won’t be taking the risk for a couple of month’s extra expiry time on Krisflyer.
