Been reading the T/Cs for cancellation for award bookings, the worst case scenario isnt too bad at all, but can anyone please clarify what it means,

I have a first class flex plus booking using points in July,
The t/cs are as follows
Cancelling a reward ticket:
If you cancel an unused Flex Plus reward ticket, you won’t need to pay any charges.

Reward ticket summary:

  • The charge to change your travel dates is USD 25* per change, per person.
  • Refunds can be made before travel for USD 75* (minus any expired Miles), if it’s possible within the ticket validity.
  • All other changes are USD 25* per change, per person.

just confused as to which is applicable a for first class flex plus, and am I theoretically allowed to cancel on the day of flying?
also, when I randomly choose other dates and try and choose the flights, it seems flex plus is the only one avaiaible

Finally got a reply after 6 weeks.

This is the email, which has just confused me more

Dear sir,

Thanks for contacting us.

I understand you'd like to know the policy for changes and cancellation to your classic reward ticket 176232941fhdh.

Since, the current Corona Virus situation has restricted travel globally. In view of this, below are the options given as an exception:

1) Keeping the ticket open: You can opt to keep the ticket open for 760 days from the date of issuance of the ticket i.e you can travel until 18 Sep 2021.

2) Rebooking to a future date: The change fees are waived off, within the validity of the ticket. Since your ticket was issued on 20th AUG 2019, you need to have your first date of travel before the 19th Aug.19.

3) Cancellations: You can cancel your ticket/ refund your ticket without our any charges.any expired Miles will be reinstated for 1 year.

I look forward to hearing from you

1) confuses me

3)So my miles will have 12 months expiry even though they are valid for 24 months?

Anyone got any idea?

3) only applies to miles which would have otherwise expired. If they were due to expire, you get an extra year. As yours are valid for two years, not relevant.

1) sounds like you can just hold the 'open ticket' for two years. Which would effectively give you three years before you had to take the first flight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think the web page may have been updated in the last month - it is clearer and if you have a flex plus ticked there is no charge to cancel.
Cancelling a reward ticket:
If you cancel an unused Flex Plus reward ticket, you won’t need to pay any charges.
For First Class Flex tickets, there will be a fee of USD 50.
If you have a Saver reward ticket, a fee of USD 75 will apply. If your ticket has a combination of fare types, separate rules will apply to each type. We can only give you a refund if you submit your reward ticket within one year of the date of issue. We won’t be able to refund any expired Miles
Flex is USD50 & Saver USD75.

thanks you two, I think you are right about terms being updated, I have a First flex plus booking for july,
and it looks like no cancellation fee,

obviously, zero chance of that flight being available,
would you guys recommend cancelling or waiting until airlines cancel it ?

Just got an email that my flight has been pushed fwd by 16 hrs (in july)

ive 1 SIA flight, 1 x emirates, 1 x emirates flight, all single trips,

the schedule change will stuff connections etc. etc

I assume the best thing to do is just wait until a month before to see if theyre cancelled any way,

obviously im not intending to travel

I just got another change in flight notice

My flight was from Dubai to Greece on 6th july

It's been changed from 6th July to 7th July to 8th July to 9th July over the past 3 months

Can only giggle about it
