Hi,

Just looking for any advice/recommendations on booking some flights while I am in Europe in August.

I'm specifically looking for a recommendation where the best place to book flights are (with OW carriers to earn SC) as well as (BA?) AUP opportunities for extra SCs. I do have QFF points to book awards if that helps too.

For reference, currently looking at flying from LHR-ATH on the 5th, return on the 8th, Possibly LGW-CDG/ORY on the 12th (unless a train is much easier), and either EAS/BCN-LGW on the 15th. Connections are fine, but most of the flights are pretty short anyway..

Any assistance, especially with the enhancements would be greatly appreciated.

Air Berlin and BA I would imagine are the better options. I rarely fly OW intra Europe though as star alliance always seems to have better routes and timings

I recently booked ATH_LHR on BA in J for a reasonable price. still trying to figure out the earn on the new simpler, fairer QFF tables.

Hi OATEK,

Through the BA site or 3rd party?

Thanks

Yes, through BA. I looked at them and Aegean for the same route, and fares were very similar so went with BA for the points. I was amazed to find that BA J ATH-LHR was about 2/3rds the price of LHR-TXL, the latter being about half the flying time. So perhaps the market to/from Greece is recovering more slowly from the GFC downturn.

Pretty sure it's just the new miles based earning table - SC bucket minimum miles have been increased.

Only tip I could think of is flying out of gatwick you can buy J upgrades for 40 pounds? Might be able to get some SC out of that.

Oh and Air France and some of the others are a PIA and don't discount one-way fares.

Can you still do the book Y then log in to MMB and pay cash to upgrade to J for J SCs trick?

Isn't that a POUG (assuming you are referring to BA)?

Yep - thats what I meant (not AUP which would only earn original fare SCs) QPP/Iso/MrO.

Anyone done one recently?

Oatek - Do you mind me asking ballpark pricing? I can see about 470pounds on BA direct - which is about 11$/sc - average value.

EURO 470 ea. Most of the cheaper fares were indirect with one or two stops, so the BA direct flight works well. Aegean showed up in ITA Matrix a bit cheaper, but I didn't manage to get the same price online and figured I would stick with the BA.
