Always a fantastic day well supported by the Melbourne community, I see from the official Good Friday Appeal FB page that Qantas will not be participating this year.

Given the philanthropic nature of the Company, the willingness in previous years for crews to donate their time, caterers the food, fuel companies the fuel and AirServices Australia to waive charges and (of late) 3AW to publicise the event and even handle the ticket sales - anyone know as to why the Red Roo in not supporting this Appeal in it's usual fashion this year?

Regards,

BD

Out of ordinary question: would credit card orders be classed as cash advance?

We have proudly supported the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal since 1987 by raising funds and volunteering our resources.

While we’ve not operated charter flights for the past couple of years, last year we donated a flight simulator experience. This year we’re auctioning a trip for 4 to Los Angeles with flights and accommodation included: Good Friday Appeal.

Bidding for the auction starts online Monday 21 March, and closes on Good Friday 25 March.

Thanks for posting that link Red Roo - I've just repeated my Google search that I've been firing off for the past few weeks and still that page is not within the first three pages of hits.

Yes, I realise Qantas - and probably TN prior - had a proud history of partnering the Good Friday Appeal and I remember back to the year DC3 flights were sold, we took one around the Bay; other years: flights down over the Tasmanian wilderness (the first time I heard of the issue Devils are having was from the informative inflight talk by the Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife), trips up to Australia Zoo, Sydney, all enjoyed with the Qantas team over the years.

I wonder if Qantas Staff get such a buzz from seeing a trip donated for an online auction as they do actually running the dedicated flights? I know the CSM, for example, volunteered year-on-year and obviously really enjoyed the flights and she and her crew made the flights such fun for the passengers: raffles (nothing online in those days!!); flogging off various items, informative but above all happy days out raising money.

And that's what it's all about - raising money for the kids (and having fun doing so along the way!!) A bit of an old saying but - everyone - give that they may grow!!

Regards,

BD
