RAC WA members can now get their Wish cards from their local service center with the 5% off.

Lets see, SA and WA have a pretty good set up with their car clubs. I wonder if any of the other state car clubs will follow regarding a physical instore deal. Has anyone heard if RACV will be offering an instore deal? I have other ways of getting discounted gift cards but this option would be easier. RACV said they had a plan to do something about discounted gift cards in the future but I haven't been following things so I don't know if anything has been announced yet.

Have you tried the entertainment book option?

I've considered this but it won't be viable for a couple of years for my circumstances. I'd have to figure out other ways to offset the $60 approx cost of the Entertainment Book for a start. I have a couple of online options but I want one where I can just go into the store rather than waiting a few weeks (or more).

Just join up for the RAC WA as an affiliate member, they mail the cards in days (takes 3 for me to get them from WA in QLD) for free so recovering the $29 is quick factoring where you can use Wish cards (petrol as well as food etc).

Picked up some cards from my local RAA (Royal Automobile Association of South Australia, also known simply as RAA) and note a policy change where a drivers licence or other photo id must be shown before completing the purchase process. ID was required on my purchase of 8 x $250 ($1900), so not sure at what level the ID is required.

It's a discount world out there. rac.com.au/wish is so fast all my friends comment to me about the speed of their mailing. Order Sunday and in my mailbox Tuesday morning. Like WOW which of course is the Woolworths ticker code.

I wish the RAA had the $500 value cards...

Cove, after our little chat in July last year I have saved over $1,000 all while earning over 19k in QFF via the QEDRCC. Who could have thought a simple meet could have such a high return

Also note that a lot of folk on one of the Lumo Energy packages (such as Lumo Velocity), may have access to the 5% discount through the Advantage Online package there....

Look to joining up for a motor association club RAC / RAA / NRMA or via the entertainment book or seniors clubs, buy cards at 95% face value, hence a $500 card will cost $475. Use a point per dollar card or better to purchase the gift cards for points up front. When using the wish cards, remember to scan the EDR barcode on the back of your QEDRCC or EDR card for the additional points earn for every $1 over the qualify amount

This is my handwork this morning, a saving of $100

Time to shop at Masters Hardware shintaro10x. Wesfarmers only give 5% off on their Coles supermarkets so BigW ,Woolies Caltex fuel, Woolworths Liquor,BWS and Dan Murphy's can be cheaper using gift cards.

By the way shintaro10x congratulations on your first thousand dollars saved that is tax free from gift cards.

No masters in Adelaide yet cove, will have to check them out when I'm over your way in July :)

Mt Gambier is a bit out of the way for your nearest Masters. You are getting a Costco in the next 12 months that should be good.

Heads up. Not sure if online only but RAC WA are offering a bonus $10 Woolworths (not WISH) gift card for $250 WISH purchases and $20 for $500 WISH gift card purchases. This is effectively a 10% discount on your $475 spend!!

Finally took the plunge and bought 1K worth of WISH cards though Ambassador Club website as Mrs Nick is a member of the FSU

Great getting the discount but there is some downside, a 5 dollar cost to send the cards out registered mail and the fact that I can only use MCARD or VISA thereby robbing myself of 500 QFF points because I only have 1:1 cards rather than the AMEX 1.5:1.

Still a good deal but maybe only a 3% saving in the end
