Queuing for the priority queue? What the?

Or LTP1 who knows ? The enhancements might mean you are teleported instead! So sitting on the floor at the gate would be futile what's the fun in that?

I suppose LTP1 net of enhancements might get a reserved seat at the gate rather than a spot on the floor. In the end will still have to queue for the teleport. Interestingly there might even be a queue in the teleport buffer memory. I would be very grumpy if I had to be stored in a buffer due to delays in teleportation . Imagine wanting to stand up in a buffer. Not a lot of headroom.....

I board early and sit and read. I stand up early because it is easier on my sore back and want to get HLO asap and get physically moving. As this does not impinge on your preferred action I wonder why it was raised, except to be able to do some name calling.
Agreed. As mentioned earlier I despise queues and don't want to spend any more time than is necessary in an aircraft cabin.

I hate buffers definitely have short fuse and get very grumpy. They call me Lurch :D

You not going to buy an old 747 to live in ??

:D

I have had a mix of experiences where in some cases staff at the gate make clear announcements about appropriate boarding lanes and have even made further announcements when non-priority guests slip into the priority lane.
On the other hand I have arrived at the gate with a group of people who have come form the lounge to find 50% of the passengers in each boarding lane, thus the few entitled to use the priority lane are at the end of the queue and the last to board.

Bring on the automated gates they have in Europe where you scan your boarding pass and if you are in the wrong lane it wont let you through.

With just me in it? If I could afford it I would buy one in a heartbeat. Put another 457 people in there at the same time and it's a different story. ;)

The services that come with a 747 are not cheap of course. :(

... I might have been futilely doing nothing for about a minute (not 5) ...

Similar experiences, here. I don't recall ever having to wait anywhere near 5 mins to exit from rows 1, 2 or 3. Maybe one minute, or so.

And, with boarding, I am more comfortable with getting to the gate prior to the boarding starting, then board and settle in.

I have a tight connection* this afternoon. I will be boarding early to ensure my HLO is close by, and then standing up as soon as the seat belt sign is off to be able to get it down and be ready to run.

*42 minutes MIA

May I suggest using some Activewear in order to improve your connection time...So even if you miss your connection your efforts would not have been futile (workout and short connection time training) and you can do it in style

What a funny thread! It's been very entertaining sitting here at my PC and watching the sparks fly. God Bless Democracy (and our Moderators)....

If I may add my perspective - I am one of those enigmas who don't mind the odd queue. If I'm queuing at the Bras N Things counter, the VA boarding gate, even the line at Indiana Jones - it probably means I'm about to do something really exciting. Waiting in the queue almost calms me - which is a good thing, because at 54, you'd think I would know better. But I am like a small child full of anticipation and as Denali so eloquently put it - I can't wait to rush that gate and take my place.

I do agree that long queues can create tension, but when you're dragging 4 kids through the Happiest Place on Earth and you've got another 2 hours in line for Peter Pans Magic Flight - you learn to develop a sense of humour. Real quick.

Well in this case my actions were initially futile. Due to my late arrival I got to watch my next flight taxiing out as I was taxiing in. But I then took advantage of my proactive queuing by getting to the AA rebooking counter ahead of the pack.

41 mins at MIA!?!!?

It's almost asking for a free night!

I'd be uncomfortable with an hour and 41 minutes ...

Maybe this was planned strategy and JT was only queuing to get off the plane ASAP to get the reconnection sorted ASAP so she could get to the said free night + drinks ASAP :D

Better to queue when seat belt off than the queue at the AA transfer desk with potentially irate passengers.

This would indeed qualify as exceptional circumstances as suggested earlier at post #43

Just two points I will make, (acknowledging in advance they are just my opinion)

1.- As for the rush to board to find space for carryon luggage, this is a result of people carrying more and more stuff on board. I do on many occasions travel HLO but I also believe that those attempting to travel HLO cause half the problem of lack of locker space! I tend to travel in business, and these days it is these pax I often see with the maximum size roller, a second carry bag, and a laptop, etc.

2.- As far as jumping up as soon as the light goes off, I am sorry, but I will disagree with the sanity of this until the end of time! There is just no reasonable way of describing this as anything but an irrational herd-mentality, herd-learnt behavior. It is aquired by passengers when they start to fly. Standing up as soon as allowed does not get you off the plane any quicker (maybe you may squeeze past one or two out of the 300 pax in the plane, and doing so probably involved you forcing your bodily proximity on them to an extent which you would never dream of inflicting in any other public space)

:)
