Question re transit in HK

We have had several changes to our CR BC tickets booked for September next year Melbourne to Amsterdam return, which we have accepted.
The change on our return leg now leaves us with only one hour MCT in Hong Kong, coming off KLM flight to QF 30.
KLM indicated bags would be checked through to Melbourne - Qantas premium line agent, said we would have to collect and recheck our bags in HK.
Can anyone confirm this or had recent experience transiting/changing airlines in Hong Kong?
Appreciate any information, thank you.

Thanks and agree, have already tried but Qantas won't/can't change flights.
We can only hope KLM change the flights again, our original flights all had between 3- 6 hours transit.
At present AMS to HK via KL, last week was via BKK!
Have just read though, if Flying Blue member going BC they may interline bags.
 
Can’t answer the question, but 1hr sounds risky to me if you have to collect luggage & then check it in …
I have just had a link sent to me from KLM Messenger, if flying to/through USA or China, bags need to be collected and rechecked - their security regulations. 🤔

I am not sure that Hong Kong has adopted the China model - we have never had to collect bags at HKG and recheck (eg between AY and either CX or QF). But that was pre-covid.

Let's hope that is the case, might have try carry on for our trip!
Spoke again to Qantas, they have reassured me that if we don't make the connection, we will be looked after, and put on next available flight.
 
*UPDATE*:
After being reassured by Fiji agent no issue with MCT and rechecking bags.

Same agent called my husband's mobile 2 days ago to apologise that she had given me incorrect information and we would need to collect bags and MCT was insufficient ( new covid protocol? )

I asked about a later flight.
After being on hold, she came back and we were offered QF 30 the following day, which we accepted (we had to pay for a night's hotel accommodation in HK, no problem there)
E-tickets issued promptly within 24 hours

Checked QFF app today and to find I was charged a reward assistance fee!
Fee was never mentioned.
Agent initiated call and flight change.

Called this morning to ask for it to be reversed - we will see.....awaiting call back as it is the weekend.

My understanding from Agent today is, need to be advised if fees are to be charged they need to be agreed to.
Happy to wear it if need be, but am up to 6 flight routing & time changes with this booking!

Have any AFF members have any insight, advice or experience with this?

Further update:
QFF refunded assistance fees as agent had not informed me of fees and was also classified as involuntary change.
 
Were these J awards? No assistance fees for J or F awards, only for Y or W. Change Fees do apply except when involuntary.

I pointed out also that QFF called me to advise of the change - which suited us as I was never going to be comfortable with one hour to connect from KLM to QF in Hong Kong!

Also, still have not got any clarity with our bags on the way over MEL-HK on CX (5 hour layover) then KLM HK-AMS-LIS.
Have 170 days to find out though !
 
Pre Covid we often had an hour connection in HKG and never missed one. Once with a late incoming flight we made a 45 minute connection. Bags also made it.

Thanks @drron, not concerned about connection time now (should have plenty of time to enjoy lounge) but whether we have to collect bags and recheck coming off CX for onward KLM.

I flew through Hong Kong two weeks ago. AY from Helsinki then CX to Melbourne. I did not have to collect and recheck my bags. Hope it works out for you.
In terms of the original question, I think the fact that AY & CX are both One World, as is QF and yet KL is SkyTeam, may be relevant.

Not that it matters to the OP any more. :)

For future reference, KLM to QF through check of luggage on one ticket would be expected.

The comment earlier about collecting and rechecking luggage transiting “China” was ignoring the fact that HKG is technically not China - at least for the next few days or weeks… 😳
