I have been a Qantas frequent flyer for a while now, but in the past have only tended to use the points for domestic flights.
Now, I am looking into using them to fly from Sydney to HKG for 4 people.
When I look at availability, there are no options for 4 people to get award seats in premium economy, only in economy and sometimes business. However, if I look for 2 award tickets then premium economy shows availability.
My intended flight is not until June 2014 so obviously I cant book that yet, but have been doing some checking for march 2014.
Will i ever get 4 seats in premium economy? Or will all 4 of us have to fly economy?
Any ideas/experiences appreciated.

What is your QFF status? You are unlikely to get 4 on the one flight, you would need to request them I dare suggest (unsure of the initial award inventory loading)
The other options is to try partner award seats with a carrier like CX.

You should call up once June 2014 becomes available to book and ask for a award seat request to be put into the system. (Assuming you are WP??)

I had my father (WP) put requests in for three of us on QF 11 and 12 around 6 months in advance and was given them! (No classic Y award was available and they put that in the request as well..) It seem QF is quite happy to let you burn extra points on PE for not much extra cost on them!

goodluck!
