Moving on Employment

Suggest recruitment firms (or even labour hire)

They are not all equal
Some are for more practically minded people others for intellectual policy minds. So shop around and find the best “fit” for you

Think about your skill-set and what you can offer a new employer going forward. They want to know what you can do in the future for them (not what you did for previous ones)

And pre-booked holidays are a non-issue. In fact, time away for a wedding would be a talking point at any interviews ! Good job !

a contract professional with legal qualifications

Places like Brisvegas are entering a very active construction period ; the legal and design processes are ramping up
and will continue to use humans.
If I needed a job today I would be on the phone ( from Perth) or door knocking/networking local managers.

So if anyone needs a contract professional with legal qualifications and over 20 years' experience, give me a shout.
My brother was the in house lawyer for a large multinational computer / IT company for over 25 years. Got retrenched last year.

In his 50s, it was hard to look for work again but through recruiters got another job for 3 months only. This was extended for a further 3 months, and when finished, they would only offer another 3 months - he asked for a year but they refused so he is now with another company on a 1 year contract. With his redundancy pay out etc, he is financially ahead, and some would consider him lucky as he has a job albeit not a permanent one.

Good luck with your job endeavours!

Thank you everyone.
I am still looking.
Some positive feedback from recruiters but nothing definite.
Meanwhile all plans are on hold.
For the wedding and for the surgery.
