Pressure cooker keeps ratcheting higher and higher on the QLD premier playing politics with the states borders.

Anna and Dr Young force a father trying to visit his daughter with cancer into paid for hotel quarantine, while they entertain AFL 'staff' at a resort with pool and bar privileges... Cool and normal....

Gladys Berejiklian lashes Queensland's border restrictions as father seeking to visit daughter with cancer rejected from exemption

Ms Berejiklian said the Northern Territory and South Australia are considering reopening their borders to NSW, but she was mystified why other leaders, particularly Ms Palaszczuk, wouldn't budge.

"I've been extremely critical to the other Premiers and I'll continue to be because I don't understand why they've got their borders up against NSW," she said.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says he is furious that a northern NSW father has been told to pay for his hotel quarantine to visit his sick daughter in Queensland.

Mr Hazzard hit out at Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk after Brad Jones was told to pay for his quarantine while visiting his daughter Charlotte, who has leukaemia, in Brisbane.

"I can only express my anger, my supreme anger, at the Queensland's Premier's decision which is in my view … is nothing more than base, loopy politics," Mr Hazzard said. "I'm appalled by what's going on up there."

The Queensland Premier is utterly heartless. The emotional pain and suffering she is inflicting is simply horrendous. She thinks Queenslanders want the borders closed, yet I (as a Queenslander) do not know a single person who shares this view. Where is this massive base of voters she thinks she's on side with?

Most people here I talk to want them to stay closed. So she may be right.

I think she/Dr Young are hypocrites. So quick to lock down Sydney. But the cases climb here and it's "nothing to worry about".

Why not declare parts of QLD hotspots and lock down them down to prevent the spread if they are so concerned about QLDers health.

Every day brings another horror story at the border where the Premier doubles down on a family suffering.

I certainly won’t forget what she has done and as someone who makes 5 short break trips to Queensland won’t be making any while she is Premier.

Though Tasmania has declared the Brisbane,Ipswich and Logan LGAs as hot spots.

Exactly, I live in QLD too, never really been moved by state politics because they are just so meaningless usually but with all this border power now in her hands I’ve honestly never been so utterly disgusted with a political ‘leader’ in my life.

She is milking this dry to get herself back into power and whatever spin or special favour is required is duly helped along by Dr Young’s ‘decisions, special treatment, exemptions’ ..... - there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with that relationship and murmurs are getting louder every day.

I watch the news from other places and QLD is the laughing stock of Australia I feel deeply embarrassed daily at who is leading this state. Literally every day she is crushing someone vulnerable without batting an eyelid to get re-elected, a grandma with brain tumors, a mum whose baby passed away because of her borders, a father with a kid with cancer... it’s awful.

It is just such a vile situation. I just wish she would win (hopefully become less political as a result), grow a brain and a heart and start working collaboratively with the other two (at least!) and the Feds - together.

A much more sensible approach than a whole state.

As a QLDer I'm disgusted in how they are treating anyone who is not a QLDer. I saw one mother refer to the way AP and Dr Y are treating. Then as xenophobia. Seems pretty accurate to me. Her kid couldn't come home from boarding school for holidays as to return he would have to quarantine on his own in a hotel. And they live 10km outside the bubble. With no active cases.

Roll on the election..after that no-one cares and they will reopen them

I care as xenophobic behaviour speaks to a persons moral character and Queenslanders need to think about their actions. Happy to take money from other states but not show compassion is disgusting.

For future planning in Pandemics. State Elections to be postponed until 6 months after the pandemic is declared controlled. That way, any decisions made to protect health/protect the Govt will be apparent.
So When is a pandemic “controlled”? When international borders are opened? When there is a vaccine? if there is a pandemic for 2 years, that could be almost a whole electoral term.

The joke continues......

So clearly Ash Barty didn't pay enough / do it enough for Anna and Dr Young.

No AFL covid party house for YOU!! So sorry.

QLD Border restrictions force Ash Barty to skip French Open

Ash Barty says part of the reason she won’t be defending her French Open crown is because she hasn’t been able to see her coach due to Queenslands border restrictions.

Barty on Tuesday announced her decision to forgo her French Open title defence in part due to a lack of preparation, with the Queensland state border closure in Australia having prevented Melbourne-based Craig Tyzzer from travelling to her home base in Queensland.

On Wednesday the World No.1 said her attempts to get Tyzzer to Queensland were rejected by authorities.

“To not have him up in Queensland has been really tough,” Barty said in a video released by Tennis Australia on Wednesday.

“It's been a tricky time for us to get ready ... but we tried to go through all the applications, tried to do all the right things but unfortunately we were rejected.

Some have accused Queensland authorities of having double standards in Barty's case, given the state approved the entry of hundreds of AFL staff and family members last month.

Socceroos great and Fox Sports commentator Robbie Slater described the situation as ‘unbelievable’ and a ‘shame’, while others said it was ‘appalling’.

And another, this is sadly no joke. And Anna flicks the blame onto her best mate Dr Young...... maybe she is realising what this is doing to her image?....

Unfortunately for this poor woman she is not an AFL football player or movie star so we don't care.

QLD 'nonsensical' border restrictions criticised again: 'My dad is dead and you made me fight to see him but it was too late'

A Queensland resident who flew home to visit her dying father was too late to say goodbye and is now locked in hotel quarantine on the day of his funeral.

Ms Frecklington tabled a letter to the Parliament from the woman, named Sarah, to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

“My dad is dead and you made me fight to see him but it was too late,” the letter read.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has phoned Ms Palaszczuk and asked her to overturn the decision not to allow Sarah to attend her father's funeral.

He said the situation was heartbreaking.

Ms Palaszczuk responded 'The Prime Minister of this country contacted me this morning and I made it very clear to the fact that this is not my decision and that I would pass the information on to the Chief Health Officer," she said.

So now the Chief Health Officer is running the State. I thought the Premier took advice and made the decisions or maybe I have a warped view of politics. Or does the Palaszczuk method apply only when it suits and the flick pass includes flicking the responsibility. The standard response at press briefings from CHO's and DCHO's is that is a matter for the Cabinet as we just give advice !!

Anna is being FLOGGED in the media for all the horrific hardship she is inflicting on people with her political border closures as well.

Its actually getting worse day by day as more vulnerable people are impacts and you can tell she is worried, she can't speak properly (well worse than normal) and goes red

She will probably still win but she is going to carry some nasty scars.

Queensland
Polling of the marginal state seats of Currumbin, Mansfield and Aspley by YouGov for the Australian Conservation Foundation shows a combined two-party result of 52-48 for Labor, compared with an almost exact 50-50 for these three seats in 2017. The primary votes are Labor 37%, LNP 37%, Greens 10%, One Nation 4% and 10% don’t know, compared with 2017 election results of Labor 41.2%, LNP 38.4%, Greens 10.6% and One Nation 8.5%. The poll was conducted from August 17-19 and targeted 200 respondents in each of the three electorates.

Queensland premier stalls over 'strong border' position as jobs, economy tumble

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's leadership team lost another senior member today, as they continue to push their "strong border" rhetoric after Queensland's mini-budget revealed devastating job losses and a deficit were coming.

While the state's ability to keep community transmission under a level of control, allowing some of the economy to trade under COVID-safe plans, the closure of interstate and international borders has sent the tourism industry into freefall.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said the state's premier tourism regions - the Gold Coast, Cairns and Sunshine Coast - had suffered the most job losses.
