In the past, I could walk up to the DIY reader located at the front desk of QPd and scan the QP card myself.
But today, just not come to half an hour ago, I was walking towards the reader, but a dear staff member stopped me and asked to see the QP card, and pressed a few buttons, ...
Has anyone of late been gotten this?
It was a very quiet time, no queues at the QP front desk.
A small thing in the larger scheme of QF overall, but still.

What lounge? I.e. city.

What? A lounge dragon doing their job?

I guess they were bored and felt like being helpful!

QP SYDd was totally different.
No one at the desk just the lady standing away from the desk.
Just waved through.
Tomorrow will be the turn around, QP BNEd will be my first time then QP SYDd again.
Will make QF SG once in my life.

Hvr, the strict lady was "guarding" chaste QP ADLd.
She said she couldn't find me on the days flight... told her I had checked in online.
The dear girl was looking me under JQ!
I usually only fly QF!
She found it though. Under QF.
OOH and... I can confirm... Under OLCI always wait for your second linked flight to do it if its a multi same day 2 city connection flight.
Asked me to check in at airport, but waited T-24 to second linked dom flight, and OLCI worked.

I find Syd and Mel wave you through, but other cities will gladly make you queue-up 10 people deep just so they can scan and check you're actually flying on the day.

Interestingly though... once I wasn't flying and I asked the woman at the desk in MEL if she could let me in with my partner (who was flying - but doesn't have lounge access) and she told me that I was always welcome even if I wasn't flying.

I have tried this in Brisbane and got a very different response!

Most of the ADL lounge staff doing guarding behaviour.

Re: QPd (not Business Lounge) front desk staff members-have they gotten stricter of l

ADL is the only QP I go to regularly where when I hold my card up for them to see, they actually reach for it to try to take it. I'm not sure why the ADL QP is guarded so closely, it's not that great.

Because the airport is small enough that using the qantas club when flying virgin is reasonably possible. Same as when SYD T2 had a qantas club.

No such checking in BNE, however did have my FF card taken from me and inspected by the lounge attendant at the entrance desk of at MEL on Saturday morning. Seemed that he was checking the expiry date. Maybe too many have chanced it recently with old, expired cards? Could have just been that I was holding it awkwardly and might have looked that I was trying to cover it up.

Did note that one gentleman was turned away from the QP in BNE after trying to get in as a PS. Seemed to argue that he wasn't aware he was no longer SG, but that didn't interest the lounge angel very much - nor should it!

Ha hilarious - I wonder if he was trying to use an old expired SG card or trying to argue the point with his PS card?

Maybe that helps to explain the more rigorous card/BP checking seen lately? Still strange that the checking seems to be less MEL and SYD focussed and more ADL, BNE, PER.

I am always asked for the card, and the BP at Adelaide.

That's weird, can not say I have ever even slowed down entering in ADL QP. Never had card checked , only ever waved BP , at full pace

There is a difference between waving a platinum card and waving a BP. A BP is a more strong indication that you actually belong there.

It gets boring sitting behind the desk. I have seen that lady standing away from the desk on more than one occasion. And on more than occassion she has told me I can use the business lounge instead of the Qantas lounge.

Sometimes if I have time up my sleeve I like to check out the food in the Qantas lounge. ;)

No such checking in BNE....
BNE is hit and miss. Some days they are very strict.

The SYDd QP Lounge Dragon Lady in Command, (curly haired lady with glasses)? Sat, definitely she was away from the main desk, Sun, she was at the main desk.
The one without the "snake and ladder", ie, the first point, ... there is also a duo in the inner sanctum, ie, the service desk inner into the QPd.
The ADL lady was more whats the word, "into officialness"?
BNEd QP lounge food, I had salad, (the various sorts), the potatoes and chives in mayo, and the soup and bread bun.
SYDd QP lounge food, about 3.30pm before the storms started, no round small bread rolls, so had to made do with having sliced bread with the soup very uncouth! Prefer having round rolls for the soup than sliced bread.
Don't eat the juicy fruits if you don't like getting your hands wet and messy, BNEd had mandarins, SYDd had pears.
Peel your own eggs takes a bit of getting used to. VA the lounge has them ready peeled, where as QF gives them unpeeled.
Ok, thanks for allowing me to "share".
Will try the PERd QP later this month.
Edit: sorry, one more butt in, its going to be hard one day, when my dog kibble dries up, and when I have to drop from PS/SG back to NB, and have to stop (not being able to afford) QP at $580/$380 fee per year.
Now, *hut up Poochie, ok, that I will do.

QPd (not Business Lounge) front desk staff members-have they gotten stricter ...

I am always asked for the card, and the BP at Adelaide.

I fly regularly through MEL, SYD, DRW, DPO and PER (and only occasionally through ADL & BNE) and my experience has been that it is only ever PER that makes an effort to properly check a BP or Card.
