A ticket was issued before 26 Feb 2013, FRA-MEL, originally booked as follows:

FRA-SIN QF6 (QF)
SIN-MEL QF36 (QF)

Due to EK deal ticket was rerouted as follows:

FRA-DXB QF8048 (EK)
DXB-MEL QF10 (QF)

Wants to know checked baggage allowance when checking in FRA.

When telephoning QF customer call centre, information was given:

"For Emirates the QP allowance does NOT apply. Hence, from FRA we are bound by normal Emirates allowances (30 kg)."

I understand the call centre may not have known the ticket was issued before 26 Feb 2013, since they quoted 30kg, and tickets before that date were 23kg.

So here are my questions:
1. Is that info correct?? I would have thoughts 2 x 23kg! Especially given MSC is QF?
Alternative thoughts-
2. Is the ticket still issued before 26 Feb 2013? Or, since it was rerouted via DXB, is the issue date as of the rerouted date? But even then the allowance should have been 42kg if QP was recognised.
3. Does QP extra kg not apply for MSC rules?

I have to assume the info is correct, as, if the call centre is giving incorrect info then what's the point of phoning the call centre? What I don't understand is why no QP extra baggage given MSC rule.

But if this means the only way to get extra baggage OUT of Europe with QP is to go via LHR, then, that sucks big time.

Good luck getting an answer for flights booked before 26th Feb. I was in a similar situation and never got a straight answer.

One thing though Qantas club does get extra allowance on EK, it is considered the same as Qantas Silver, so in economy that means 42KG's which isn't too bad. Only issue is for tickets booked before 26th Feb.

Ahhh yes, I see on the (+) footnote on this page
The Qantas Club Benefits | Qantas
For tickets purchased from 22 Feb 2013 for travel on or after 31 March 2013 these additional allowances will also apply to Emirates operated ("EK") flights between Australia, Europe, The Middle East, North Africa and Asia when travelling under either QF or EK flight numbers.
So basically QF changed their flight from a QF to EK flight, but now they lose the extra baggage ...
But horror of horrors, they could get to check-in and only be given 23kg!!! Since that was the limit before 22 Feb 2013!!
Oh that would really rattle them.. I don't want to contemplate it.
Please tell me that that won't happen and that there's a red phone to RedRoo at FRA check-in they can call to be calmed down if the EK desk says it's not 2x23, it's not 1x30, but it's 1x23..
